Advantages: Washes the dishes
Disadvantages: Bit noisy
I have had this model of dishwasher for 12 months now and to date I have no complaints. I have found the machine to be reliable and delivers on its promises. We are a family of 5, that is 2 adults and 3 children so we do generate quite a large amount of washing up during the day. Generally I use the dishwasher each day for the dishes from the breakfast and dinner, we are usually at work during the day so there are not too many lunch time dishes, except at the weekends and I still do only one wash a day.
This is a fully integrated dishwasher from Belling. I bought this as a replacement for the original dishwasher that was installed with my kitchen. My husband installed the appliance himself and had no problems with connection or with the attachment of the external door, the external door slots onto the front of the dishwasher. There are two shelves in the dishwasher, both are retractable and the cutlery holder sits in the bottom shelf.
I have found the machine very easy to use, with the controls located inside the top of the door. I usually use the economy cycle, this lasts just over an hour and have found my dishes to be satisfactory when the cycle is finished. The only slight quibble I have is that you really need to leave quite a gap between each dish to ensure thorough washing and clearing of debris. This does reduce the capacity slightly, but even with this I do find that it washes our daily dishes.
The cutlery basket can accommodate up to 72 individual items in the three rows, what I have done is to remove the plastic slot piece from one of the rows, this allows me to put cutlery items that are a bit wider into the basket. This leaves me with 48 spaces for the rest of my cutlery and I have found this to be more than sufficient.
I have used dishwasher powder, tablets and liquids and found them to all work quite well and they are all held in the same small compartment. I generally use the economy brands of dishwasher such as Daisy or shop own brands and have found no reduction in the cleaning ability of the machine. I still have to add salt and rinse aid but have found no real difference in the amounts I use. The rinse aid just goes in the same compartment as the powder and the salt is added through a screw top in the bottom of the machine, but they are easy to add. There is a measuring gadget included with the machine so you add the correct amount of salt.
There are five programmes, including economy that can be selected, there is also a half load option. The machine can also be programmed to come on after a delay, so I can load it and leave it ready to come on in say one hour's time. I generally use the economy cycle and always wash a full load. When the cycle has finished the machine makes 8 loud beeps.
Generally when the cycle has finished and the dishes have cooled I find that the dishes are quite well dried I only have to wipe off the residue of water from any dishes that have recesses or dimples where the water can pool. The bottom shelf/drawer/basket has an adjustable row that can be flattened down, I have found this to be useful for when I need to wash cooking trays or larger casserole dishes.
The main reasons I bought this model were price and the capacity. I have found the machine to be reliable and overall I am content with how it has performed. I bought this machine a year ago and oaid £299 for it. The machine is a little noisy, but not unbearably so, I can put the washer on at night and it does not annoy me when I am sleeping.
I would recommend this dishwasher, it is a good all round performer.
Summary: A decent dishwasher, reasonably priced
