Advantages: Large capacity and well laid out

Disadvantages: Broke down terminally just over 2 years old!

This top end machine was installed in July 2007 - worked well until two weeks ago, when it refused to pump out water.

Went through all the diagnostics and decided it was the pump that had probably failed. Tried to contact Bosch to find out if there was a guarantee on it, but unable to raise their customer services. Their engineering dept said there was a 2 year on it, so it had just run out.

Perfect timing.

Having been through the automated call handing system 4 times by now, including being put on hold for ages, then getting cut off, didn't seem much point in going through all that again so got an independent engineer out only to be told that no it wasn't the pump but the motor, and probably a £200 repair on a 2 year old £521 machine. Not a happy bunny at all.

I have bought Bosch in the past and the dishwashers have gone on for ever, but this one is a huge disappointment, plus it has the nuisance factor of being a built in one.

I think, in future, I will stick to freestanding ones only and buy a cheap one, as clearly if they are only going to last two years, then you might as well buy a second cheap one than pay out a lot more for one that you think should last a lot longer but then doesn't.

Summary: You buy an expensive one to save money and then it costs you more.
