Advantages: Good looks, user-friendly, range of wash types available.
Disadvantages: Doesn't dry as well as it should.
Up until very recently every child dreaded that time in evening after dinner when your parents asked you to wash up the pots in the traditional and time-consuming manner previously practised. Nowadays everything has changed, and it's due to technological advancements achieved in the washing sector - this model from Bosch represents the culmination of a long process of development and investment in the industry. The 'SMS65E18GB' full-sized dish washer is designed to fit within a kitchen both aesthetically and practically, with its standard dimensions and sleek silver exterior.
The exact measurements of the product for anyone seriously considering buy it are: Height 84.5cm, width 60cm, depth 60cm. The dimensions mimic the usual space found underneath a work top, within a gap about the same width as a double cupboard or set of draws. Behind the washer there must be a plumbed in connection tot he water mains and electricity of the house, which has to be completed by a certified professional. For the space this device takes up you get a 13-place setting machine: each setting fits a soup bowl, dinner plate, side plate cup, saucer, glass, 5 cutlery pieces and additional serving utensils.
The machine works excellently and can be set to complete the process in different times when programmed using the front display and buttons. The machine is very user friendly, I'm sure anyone could use it with a little help from the instruction guide it comes with. the machine takes on average 6.5 litres of water which varies when selecting different wash temperatures (and there are five to choose).
The washer is A++ rated for energy efficiency which is a good grading. It has a less appealing A rated wash performance and A rated drying performance. The drying isn't up to the standard I've seen from other similar products, and though plates seem to dry relatively quickly, cutlery and cups take much longer. Occasionally I have to use a towel to dry bits and bobs as I remove them from the washer.
A separate soap product has to be bought and placed into the machine before every wash. There is a large variety of these on the market (especially in super-markets) and the machine takes the standard sized units most machines do. For just over £400 you can purchase one of these washers, which isn't bad considering the range of features, size of the interior, ease in use-ability, and good looks of the machine.
Summary: A fine dishwasher for the kitchen of any household!
