Update: I purchased this dishwasher about a year ago and no issues so far. 3/14/14
I didn't buy from Amazon, and I bought an extra warranty due to some of the reviews I've seen. A drawer style dishwasher was my only option due to a design flaw in the kitchen. Purchased March 2013, so far no issues with the dishwasher.
I like being able to save water and only run a single drawer at a time, but have the option of running both when needed. Each drawer only uses 2 gallons of water for a full wash cycle. With a typical dishwasher I have to run the rinse cycle at least once to keep it from stinking until I am able to fill it and run a full cycle. The installers told me to make sure to not put anything too tall in the drawer as it would prevent it from sealing during the wash cycle and cause leakage. I have some large dishes, but they fit; no I cannot fit some of my large cutting boards and cookie sheets, but those won't fit or barely fit in many dishwashers.
We bought the panel ready double dish drawer from a local dealer and have been using about 7 months.
Con: this dishwasher needs a way to easily be screwed into the floor. It currently only mounts under your countertop and it stands on it's feet. Because our house is old and the floors aren't level, the washer "walks" a little bit every few days, and my wife has to get it back into alignment for the drawers to open properly. It needs a way to secure to the cabinetry on the left and right, and to the floor. We are currently working on a homemade fix to this installation issue. The filter screen is very fine, and you must rinse off large debris before loading.
Pro: excellent cleaning ability. Just for fun for several weeks, we ran our dishes without soap. Granted, we rinsed them lightly, and ran the washer right away, not allowing them to sit. The dishes came out sparkling with just the jet dri in the washer. I still do this from time to time. It is sufficiently quiet. The "Fast" cycle will clean your dishes well enough if they are not terribly dirty. Very convenient in our small kitchen to be able to stand at the sink and load the drawer-we really don't have the floor space for a door to fold out all the way. Perfect for the 2 of use. We use nearly daily. Panels my cabinetry guy installed on it look amazing and you can't tell it's a washer just by looking at it. Hope to get many years out of this washer.
When I first decided to buy this dishwasher is because that I wanted to save some time, and not wasting on doing the dishes. The size is medium, I'm not sure the maximum amount of plates and bowls it can hold, normally I have 1 bowl, 1 plate, 1 cup and cutlery. The first year, the dishwasher worked divine, the second year was normal, because the first year, not only all the plates where clean, but they are shiny as well, but in second year, it's not as shiny as first year. And in third year was awful, nothing is properly cleaned and I have to clean all the plates myself again, which is such a waste of time, so I throw it way thinking about replacing it with a new one. But during Christmas and if you are going to have lots of people coming for lunch, this dishwasher won't do the job because large plates won't fit so you still have to wash by hands or change it to a bigger dishwasher. The little drawer in the top is very good, it's enough to fit the standard requirements. But I don't think I will buy this agin because I wanted to try something new. Because I was very disappointed in my third year using this, because the plates actually have things stuck on them and they look disgusting. Overall, this should be a short turn dishwasher, you cannot rely on it for more than two years. And I would certainly look for something bigger.
This original concept of the "drawer" fits exactly our requirements. Retired couple often invaded by hordes of children, grandchildren. Very easy to use and clean and so convenient to have the two drawer option. Downside? Filter is poor and needs regular cleaning. Lets things like olive pips through which wreck the pump. Takes only regular sized plates so if you have large ones prepare to wash tham by hand! Help line brilliant
