Hotpoint FDW60 ... is a great dishwasher if you like frequent visits from the service man! I have owned mine for approximately 4 years. I choose it because my mother in law had a Hotpoint dishwasher which was circ 15 years old & still going strong. I also liked the streamline appearance, fairly plain front with not too much space given over to operating buttons & controls. As a dishwasher it functions very well on the long hot programme, but not so well if you are after economic or shorter washing cycles, tending to leave some items not cleaned. Miele G646SC Plus ... is a great dishwasher by miele - it is well made, realliable and cleans really good. Cleaning - as you would expect really dirty things need to be quickly rinsed off before you wash them but his dishwasher cleans very well and I hardly ever find dirty things even on the economy setting. It also has other settings for greater cleaning power. Usability - the dishwasher has lights that indicate when you need more salt or if anything isn t working so you don t need to be constantly checking things. Indesit IDL 40 ... love this machine - despite its shortcomings! Yes, I was a dishwasher virgin. After years of my partner insisting on manually washing up, I finally put my foot down and ordered this dishwasher from John Lewis (£190). It is a basic model - but I like this about it - turn the dial, press the button and it does the job. I don t want to be digitally programming it - and then having to train partner and daughter to do it. I mostly use the eco function because I hope it is the most environmentally friendly one.
