... engineer said there was no other type of seal.
Six weeks of visits later, the engineer finally admitted defeat, and said that the dishwasher couldn't be fixed. As it is still under warranty, I'll get a replacement, but I won't be accepting the same model.
The moral of this story is to read Which? Magazine before buying a dishwasher - Hotpoint comes bottom or almost bottom in nearly every category of white goods....morePrice Comparison for Hotpoint BFI620

When we installed a new kitchen, the supplier said they would 'throw in' an integrated dishwasher for only £50. Our choices were a Diplomat or a Hotpoint. Never having heard of Diplomat, I went for the latter. In retrospect, this was a mistake, as I should have taken my £50 and made a down-payment on something reliable, like a Bosch, Miele or Siemens. At first, the dishwasher was fine. It is a basic machine with very few programmes and controls. It was easy to use, easy to load, the salt and rinse aid dispensers were easy to fill.
