      Wouldnt be without it.

Ok so we moved into a new house which had a space for a dishwasher. Not wanting to have a big gap I bought a second hand dishwasher from a local shop.
I am so pleased with it! Bearing in mind it was second hand to us it has now done a year in our new house aswel!
The basics: on/off switch, 4 lights to tell you what stage of the cycle its at - pre wash, wash, rinsing or drying.
5 wash setting intensive, normal, eco, fast, and pre wash.
Inside is 2 shelves on rollers we use the top for cups, bowls, glasses, and the bttom for plates and saucepans etc. Plenty of space so your not having to put it on every day.
Only two downsides to this dishwasher, first is I find it a bit noisy, and the second is if youre not careful the filter can become blocked, although if you carefully scrape the plates you will probably avoid this situation!
We have had no problems other than the above, which is probably of my own making anyway!
We find it cheap to run also.
I wouldnt be without it now, and would definately go for a Hotpoint again if the need arose.

      Cheap, nasty, useless

We bought this dishwasher along with a matching washing machine when we moved into our first house, over 2 years ago. We bought it becuase it was quite cheap, and we got a good deal in our local independant appliance center. I think we paid just over £200.

The dishwasher is rated A for cleaning, Drying and Energy efficency, so we though it would be a good start.

The dishwasher is smart looking, with a simple self explanatory interface. You have the on/off button, and a dial to select which wash is required. There are 5 programs available including Normal wash, intensive wash, eco wash and fast wash. There are 4 lights to show what stage the dishwasher is at, and salt refill light.

The dishwasher has 12 place settings, with the cutlery section being a removable basket in the bottom drawer. This is useful, s you can take the entire basket over to your cutlery drawer after cleaning. The bottom drawer contains prongs to hold the plates and and the upper drawer as the same, with to liftable sheves on each side to store other items such as big spoons or spatulas. Both drawers pull right out for easy access.

Washing can be hit or miss. Sometimes the dishes come out dirtier than they went in, which for a dishwasher is unacceptable. The problem seems to lie with the filter at the bottom of the unit. It gets blocked very easily, meaning the dirty water is recirculated round and round and not taken away. On several occasions its taken 2 or 3 intensive washes to get clean plates. The cutlery basket now has several holes in the bottom of it, meaning knives and spoons fall thorough slightly and stop the bottom drawer from opening. This is incredibly annoying.
As with the washing machine reviewed seperately, the writing on front of the dishwasher is rubbing off. I just two years of light use, I find this unacceptable. The writing is only printed and not etched, so in another 2 years, its likely you wont have a clue what setting you are choosing. Not good. One other niggling thing is the tablet drawer. Its not quite big enough for todays standard tablets. You have to push quite hard to get it to close. This is a fundamental design flaw, which should have been spotted.

The unit can be quite noisy, espeically if you have it running overnight like we often do, but this is far from the biggest issue of the machine.

We have learnt an expensive lesson in the last 2 years .Buy cheap, you get cheap. With this and the washing machine, I certainly will not be buying Hotpoint products again. The are not deisgned or built properly and quite frankly a waste of money.
