I can't fault the Hotpoint SDL510 dishwasher because everything I wash in there is cleaned well and it's very rare that I have to put something back in to rewash, that is only if I have washed something that is very dirty (like last week when a curry I made stuck to the bottom of the pan and I didn't realise until the next day when it was too late to save it!!). When you've had a dishwasher for a long time you learn when you should and shouldn't blame the dishwasher for plates and dishes that aren't cleaned properly and I have had no cause to blame this dishwasher for anything up to this date.
Nothing has ever been damaged and I think that's because when we're washing our glasses and other fragile items we select the Delicate setting and that keeps them safe. One time my boyfriend put a side plate in that had cracked down the middle but not broken all the way through, that broke in half during the washing process and even though it was a pain then to have to collect all the small bits from the bottom of the dishwasher I still can't blame the dishwasher because the plate was on the verge of breaking anyway and I don't know why he washed it because he knew it was going to be put in the bin when I found something to wrap it in!!
I recommend this dishwasher and not just if you're looking for a slimline appliance because it's a very good machine for everyone. It's not as small inside as I thought it was going to be and there isn't very much difference in the internal dimensions to a regular sized dishwasher, it has plenty of room for when we are just washing up after ourselves and also for the occasions when we entertain friends at home and have more plates and dishes than usual to clean.
You can buy the same dishwasher in Graphite but that is about £30 dearer for the same appliance just in a different colour. I liked the Graphite one but I don't like having to pay more for something just because it is provided in a more interesting or exciting colour, I feel the same about the way some companies price their pink items higher than other colours because it makes me feel like they are trying to take more money from me just because I like a popular colour!!
When my partner and I first brought our house the whole place needed revamping. The first room to be stripped and redecorated was our kitchen as it is the key room in the house. We have a gally style kitchen so space is essential. Once we had popped on the b&q website and designed our dream kitchen we set about ordering the bits we needed off amazon etc at cheaper prices. My husband is an electrician so wanted to instal the kitchen at a cheaper cost himself.
One of the items we purchased was the slim dishwasher. After just a few weeks living together we both realised that working 45hours a week each and then standing at the kitchen sink washing pots just didnt bode well for our relationship. It sounds silly but this dishwasher saved us from throwing dirty cutlery at each other.
Once installed the dishwasher takes up hardly any room in the kitchen. Its compact size does not hinder its capacity and it will still hold a large amount of dishes per load. I typically have my dishwasher on once a day. The breakfast bowls go in the top half in the morning and then after work all dinner dishes fill up the remaining space. Depening on your stacking skills (this is a fine art to master) you can get the most from the dishwasher if you load properly.
The dishwasher holds about 10 glasses/ cups in the top have with room for utensils and large knifes ect down the sides. The cutlery holder has four compartments with spaces down its sides for tea spoons. The bottom part holds about 8 dinner plates and two reasonable sized saucepans.
One tablet per wash is all that is needed per use and I top up the salt and rinsaid about once every three weeks. The machine takes about half a bag of salt per refill and a tiny amount of rinsaid. Bout are easy to top up and the dishwasher lets you know when this needs doing by flashing a red light on the front of the machine that says 'salt' or 'rinseaid'
I clear the bottom Of the dishwasher out after I have washed the pots of every sunday wash. If you dont clear the filter/wastepipe area of the machine at least occasionally it will block with food scraps and the dishwasher will not function until it can drain. Once again this is simply to do. Remove the filter from the bottom of the machine, rinse under the cold tap until clean and then put back.
The shortest setting on the dishwasher is an economy wash which takes about 30 minutes. The longest setting is an intense wash at nearly 2 hours. I use the setting in the middle. Economy wash just doeant clean the dishes to my standard and the intense wash is only used for roast pots and pans.
This dishwasher is brilliant as always hotpoint have excelled with quality and a simple machine that is easy to work and maintain.
Hotpoint slimline white dishwasher / Features include a built-in water softener / a self-balancing door for easier loading and unloading / a residual drying / which uses the heat from the dishwasher from the final wash to economically almost dries your dishes completely /
