Indesit DG 6100 W dishwasher. Bought 22/07/99 It is difficult to describe this machine. When it washes, in the main it chunters away and does a reasonable job of dishwashing, but it does have some drawbacks.............. The top tray is held in place by some small side wheels attached to the tray and they run within a channel that extends when you pull out the tray to load/unload, a bit like a drawer in a chest of drawers. At the end of the runners are turn clips which, if turned, allow you to withdraw the tray completely (why you should want to do this is beyond me, but there it is) Sometimes, and this is without any warning, and has no apparent pattern, when opening the machine to take out the clean crocks, I pull the tray out to the stop, but sometimes one of the stops has turned, (how nobody knows)consequently the tray half comes out, twisting to one side and with the sudden weight of the crocks you have to be quick to stop the cleaned crockery going all over the place. This is tolerable, but occasionally both clips somehow turn themselves round, and when the whole tray is pulled out to the stops, (but now the stops aren’t operational), I found I had a kitchen floor full of brocken crockery and glass - very clean broken crockery and glass it’s true, but still very broken, When this happened I got on to Merlioni, and they sent out an engineer, who had “never heard of this before” and gave me some new turn button clips, reassuring me this would not happen again. The machine ran out of warranty and the unit still does this in respect of the tray coming out suddenly. However I know about it, and so, being am aware of the problem, consequently my crocks are reasonably safe. However, there is another problem. The bottom spray bar is held in with a plastic clip arrangement, which after 2 years has worn out so the spray bar falls off its support and lays in the bottom of the machine. The replacement whi
ch I finally managed to track down is of different design, but you still have to pay for it. The door seal is dodgy, it leaks and currently the repair man, who I have to pay as warranty no longer applies to my machine, is investigating and to top it off, now the top spray bar won’t go round, (I guess something is wrong with the pump), so, all in all I find it difficult to recommend this machine, except to say it is cheap, and when it works, it does clean dishes and perversely does make you buy some overdue new crockery. My next dishwashing machine, which is not far off being purchased, will not be a one of these, and by that time, maybe someone in dooyoo will be have made me a good recommendation. Update. Since the engineer called, he declared the motor is totally caput, so it's a new machine.................
