This opinion is on a slightly different model number the Indesit DG6145. We moved house last year and the fitted kitchen at our new place only had room for a slimline dishwasher not a standard one like we had. Now I could have re-arranged the kitchen units and cut a bit off here and there to make ours fit, but as I’m as competent at DIY as Posh Spice is at singing, and the fact that we’d had our dishwasher for years, we decided to buy a new one. We trawled around most of the usual places Courts, Curry’s, Comet etc. and even had a look on the Internet and one thing we did find was there wasn’t a great deal of choice when it came to finding a slimline dishwasher. Undaunted we went back round these places again and decided to settle on buying an IndesitDG6145. We chose this model for a number of reasons: The dimensions of the dishwasher perfectly fitted the space in our kitchen – A vital requirement as far as my wife was concerned -as this meant I wouldn’t need to get involved in any hammering, sawing, banging, swearing, or as my wife likes to call it “Bodging” We also chose it because it had an 8 place setting capacity - an awful lot of the slimline models we looked at only had room for 6 place settings – And although it wasn’t an all singing all dancing model it had enough features that we needed, to make it worthwhile buying. here are some of the features it hasto offer: It has 4 different cycle settings 1. Is a Heavy Duty cycle - we use this mainly for pots and pans and for things like casserole dishes. It’s really effective in shifting the dirt and compares favourably with our old whirlpool model that we previously had. 2. Is Normal Wash – This is just a standard wash for normally dirty pans and dishes. It gets the dishes really clean and it’s as good as any I’ve previously used. 3. Rapid Wash – This is a
n economy wash – we use this one quite a lot – If your dishes aren’t very dirty or if you use this cycle after giving the dishes a quick rinse, then it gets them clean in half the time of a full cycle, about 15 –20. Minutes. The only downside to this is there is no drying cycle on this setting. 4. Soak – Pre- wash the dishes to prevent food residue from drying on the dishes. We use this after breakfast so we don’t need to run a full cycle, as we don’t have enough dishes for a full load. We then add the rest of the dishes after our main meal and only then run the full cycle. Like most dishwashers it has a top and a bottom rack. The bottom rack should hold your most difficult to clean items, pots plates etc. And the top one the more delicate type like glassware cups, saucers etc. There is also a basket for your cutlery. Another reason we chose it was because we thought it was good value – and we’ve been proved right. We actually bought it from Comet Direct, only because our local store didn’t have this particular model in stock and said they couldn’t deliver it to us for at least six days. We ordered it by phone –after visiting the website – and they delivered from their warehouse within48 hours. So that is something to consider if your local store doesn’t have any stock. Also the delivery charge £9.99 was £5 cheaper than the salesman in our local store quoted for delivery. Oh I didn’t tell you how much it cost! It was £199.99 we paid an extra £30 for three years insurance on parts and breakdown, but the dishwasher comes with a 1-year guarantee included in the price. I must say that we are really happy with the performance of this dishwasher and would recommend it to anyone. It gets our dishes as clean as our previous machine which cost over £100 more to buy, and Is economical in its use of water (which is quite important if you are on
a water meter) and electricity.
