I remember many years ago saying I wouldn't bother with a dishwasher as it might prove uneconomical, not environmentally friendly and would take up a too much space. But as my family grew, and so did the washing up, I thought again. I researched the environmental issues and believed that it might not be such a bad idea after all. I considered how often after a roast dinner I ran the hot tap to change the water and used more liquid detergent . I was swayed, and so when I invested in a new kitchen interior, I thought the time had come to get a dishwasher. I've had a few now and although this Indesit has now died I would say it is the best so far.
It has some good features:
Half load option
Rapid wash and dry
After six years of overwork I suppose it was too much and I don't think many appliances nowadays are built to last. Although I would have liked it to last longer, particularly as I'm having a big appliance crisis at the moment which is proving very expensive, I didn't really expect it to. I'm glad I found dooyoo as now I know how to research well before I buy future products, especially expensive ones such as appliances.
In the time that I had this dishwasher I found it to be the most reliable machine I've had. In the past I've had a Zanussi, Hotpoint and Bosch.
I found the Indesit dishwasher cleaned well on the quick program and I hardly ever had to use a longer or hotter program, so economy wise this was a definite plus. However, this was using branded dishwasher tablets. When I used cheap tablets or liquid the results weren't so good but I suppose this is to be expected with all dishwashers.
The drying cycle is adequate but not exceptional.
The lower basket could be better designed as the outer sections won't allow for normal sized dinner plates as then the door won't close. Also the top basket can sometimes become unhinged which could cause a big problem if full. I managed to always stop it coming away with crockery in it but only just!
It is quite easy to clean the filters.
I consider it fairly quiet whilst operating but haven't found any of my past machines particularly noisy.
This is the second Indesit dishwasher that I have owned. I bought again because I find them to be exceptional value for money. My last one lasted approx. 10 years - without breaking down. We needed to purchase a semi integrated model and some that we looked out were outrageously expensive. At the end of the day - they are all there to do the same job. The Indesit may not have as many programmes as some and it doesn't have a fancy digital number readout but it has as many programmes as you will need ( I only ever use the main wash and the rinse function ) ,it does a really good job of washing and drying the dishes and it appears to be as good quality as more expensive models. On the down side it is a little bit noisy so it's not perhaps the best choice if you have an open plan living /kitchen arrangement.
Great value for money.
