==Indesit IDF 125==
After moving house and bringing our old dishwasher with us but not having the space to fit it in the new kitchen, we decided to get someone round to pull out a cupboard and put the nessecary pipe work in place for us to have our trusted dishwasher back. The only one was only around 5 years old and worked a handful of times after the chap had installed it for us. Unfortunately just as we were getting used to not having to wash thing by hand again it gave up the ghost and a new machine was needed.
We opted for this Indesit IDF 125 model because it was a relatively cheap option and also when buying it the company offer a delivery, install and recycle option in the price and this suited us at the time. We paid around £280 for the package from Argos and although delivery time was slow as they were out of stock of the item when we ordered it wasn't too long to wait in the scheme of things.
The machine itself is a white model and is a AAA rated appliance. There are five different wash cycles in which to choose from on the front of the machine and overall I have to say it has a rather basic look about it although still looks comfortably stylish. The size of the appliance is that of a standard machine and it fit in the space of the old one with ease. The use of the machine is as simple as it looks really and there is a chunky dial with which to choose the programme setting with. The programmes are listed down the side of the machine so you don't have to think too much about which number relates to which cycle.
The cycles are as follows:
1 -Intensive - A wash which we seem to use a fair bit and is suitable for those items which have had things like spaghetti bolognese on and need a good clean to make sure no residue is left on the plates. The cycle takes around 1 ½ hours and this gets up to a good high temperature and will also use the drying facility that the machine offers.
2- Time for you -This cycle runs at around 1 hour 45 minutes and is the one that is recommended for everyday use. It uses the drying facility after the machine has washed the dishes and although we tend to use the Eco more often this one works well and is a top used programme.
3- Soak - I can't say I have ever used this cycle but it lasts for around 10 minutes and will literally do what it says on the tin and covers all the plates in a dose of hot water and will help get rid of the more crusted on food.
4- Eco - although this is the longest of all programmes which lasts about 2 ½ hours, the water used is far less than others and I believe the temperature doesn't get up to the height that the others does although we use this quite regularly and I never really have a problem with bring out dirty plates after the cycle has run.
5- Rapid 35' - This quick wash is ideal when there are fewer plates in the machine to be washed but perhaps ones that are a tad smelly and want washing quicker than usual. I tend to use this if we have had fish for dinner as I don't want the pong hanging around the machine or the kitchen. It runs quick and works well although is not suitable for a full load.
Once the programme has been selected with the dial there is one push button to push in which will illuminate the solitary LED light to green. If the wash needs to be paused then this same button can be pushed again to pause the programme. The LED light will flash amber to indicate that he wash cycle has been paused. There is only one other button ont eh front of the machine and this is the on and off button which I find in far too close proximity to the area where you pull open the door of the machine. This means that I am forever opening the door of the dishwasher and then accidentally turning the machine on. It won't start the programme but the LED light will illuminate and this really bugs me that they didn't position this button better.
Filling up the salt inside the dishwasher is easy to do by unscrewing the cap and using the funnel that came provided with the machine. Also putting in the dishwasher tablets and rinse aid in the inside of the door is as simple to do as any other machine I have used in the past.
All in all I have to say that the machine is doing good so far. It was an affordable price and it looks clean and works well. The position of the on/off button is the only negative I can find and for that reason I feel that a score of 4 out of 5 stars is well deserved and I would certainly recommend this dishwasher to anyone.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I have had this dishwasher for 4 months now and I am very happy with it. It looks very smart in a bright white with a simple control panel at the top. I also have the matching washing machine which I would also recommend.
I was able to use it immediately, although there was some packaging taped to the racks inside to keep everything safe in transit. It just has a cold intake of water, so it needs just one water inlet, and the usual waste water outlet. It measure 85x60x60 cms. It is rated an 'A' machine for the power usage.
There are 5 programmes in all, an intensive wash, a soak, a 'time for you' which I honestly don't understand, an eco and a rapid wash. I use the intensive for heavily soiled loads, like Sunday roasts and lasagne dishes. I tend not to use the next two programmes. Then the eco programme is about 90 minutes for regular dishes, this is the programme that gets used most often. The rapid is 35 minutes and is good for lunch dishes, or glasses after a party. I use the dishwasher tabs with the ball in it, they drop out of drawyer in the washing cycle exactly as they should, and dissolve perfectly every time.
It runs quietly and gets the dishes clean wherever they are positioned in the machine. I have quite large dinner plates and they fit in the bottom rack easily, it takes a 12 setting dinner service. The basket for the cutlery can be moved to any position on the bottom shelf which is great if you want to put a large tray or something bulky in. It comes out completely so emptying the clean cutlery into your drawer is very easy. The filter comes out very easily and you just run it under a hot tap with washing up liquid to cleanse the grease, and pop it back in. The spinning 'arms' also come out easily too, when you need to remove the debris which seems to block up the little holes where the water comes out.
It costs around 225.00 pounds from Dixons. A budget product that works well - what's not to like?
We are are a family of 4 and are all out at work so a dishwasher is an essential item for our household.
This dish washer has been efficent in its workings and is energy saving too. Used everyday and never a problem, quite quiet too when in operation. Have had to replace the front fascia as the handle is not too sturdy, however this was ordered direct from indesit parts department and only cost £13 with free postage. My other half fit the part in 10 minutes and no further problems to report, not exactly a fault with the design, possibly more to do with the heavy hands of my family! Full cycle takes about 90 minutes but I would advise waiting another 10 to 15 minutes before emptying as the plates, cups, etc are often still very hot - we tend to put the dishwasher on last thing at night as we go to bed and then they are all clean and cooled for the morning, the only problem then being who is going to empty it!
looks great and very simple to use. indesit offer a brilliant service, given narrow timeslot and item arrived on time, delivery guy went out of his way and went off to get an extra part to fit to waste pipe and received a follow up call from indesit the next day to check everything was ok. brilliant company and quality product. there is plently of space and its very easy to load, and clean filter.several settings including an eco one and one for just a few dishes. especially liked the holder for wine glasses. was really impressed at how shiny and clean and importantly DRY everything was - even burnt on food was cleaned on a eco wash. exceptional value. and very pleased with indesit service and ease of use of the productIt is also suprisingly quiet. very pleased with this purchase and would definately recomend this dishwasher to a friend!!
