Advantages: Easy to use, cleans really well, kind to glassware
Disadvantages: I doesnt have a delay timer
The one household chore I hate is washing up the dinner pots after I've cooked a lovely meal, the thought of having to stand in front of the sink and scrub the pots to clean them and then dry them just does not motivate me at all, so I decided it was time to take some action and buy myself a washing machine and went to my local Currys to see what they had in store.
Once I got to my local Curry's I was immediately confused by all the different models, displays, prices and colours so I called upon a sales rep to help me out with my choices. I firstly asked what it was I wanted the dishwasher to do, now not wanting to state the obviously and look really dumb I said that I would want something of a medium size and gave the dimensions, that it could hold smaller items as well as larger items like pans and Pyrex dishes and I also told him my budget was up to £400 and nothing more than that, oh and it had to be white to match my other main appliances and simple to use. So I didn't think I was asking for too much really.
The first dishwasher I was presented with was a Miele G977 and I know Miele are a household name who are responsible for Hoovers and such like so I didn't have any hesitations at being shown the model. I was told it was energy efficient rated which meant it used not only less power but less water and cleaned just as well as any of the other models. The man then went on to explain that there was six different programmes to choose from when washing your pots and pans and three different temperature settings, it would hold 12 different plates and that there was a cutlery basket and an adjustable racking feature allows larger items such as pots and pans to placed within the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.
So, having been so impressed with the demonstration from the Sale Rep I decided that this was the machine that I wanted and it was to be delivered and fitted within the next 5 days. True to their word my dishwasher duly arrived and was fitted within the allotted time slot and I now had a fully working dishwasher.
The dishwasher itself is really easy to use. On the front of the machine are LED lights which state whether the machine is washing, rinsing or drying the three most important features when it comes to washing your pots and pans along with an off and on button. To the right of those lights is a small knob feature which hosts the wash programmes and on there you will see pre-wash which I use if my pots and pans are in need of an extra good wash and then the other programme features such as economy wash and so on, next to the programme you will find the temperature setting which goes up to 75 degrees.
The LED indicators underneath the washing and drying indicators include a rinse aid indicator to let you know when more rinse aid needs to be added to the machine, a salt indicator which reminds you to add salt to the machine and this helps to soften the water that runs throughout your machine and whenever any of these need to be topped up the LED lights will flash.
Opening up the dishwasher, the door moves from an upright position to horizontal position using a small handle on the top of the door and this door also hosts a child proof lock for those of you who have young children. Once open the machine has two levels of storage. Firstly on the top level there is space for cups, glass and mugs alone with a few smaller items such as saucers and tea plates. Moving to the lower compartment this is where you would place your pots and pans, casserole dishes and your dinner plates with ease and you can easily get 12 plates in there with no hassles. Also found within the bottom compartment is the cutlery tray to house your used cutlery. Underneath the lower compartment you will find what is called the triple filter system which helps to keep any left over residue away from the newly cleaned contents, this filter is easy to remove using the handle but before doing so I would suggest you read the manual which accompanies the machine to ensure you are completing this task safely. This machine also features a waterproof anti-leak system so protect against leaks.
Im not the most technologically minded person in the world but when it comes to using this machine I have found it really easy to use and to get used to all of its features and I have to say the thought of never having to wash another plate again definitely makes me smile throughout the day and it was definitely worth £336 that I paid for it along with the 5 year cover plan which was £159 for 5 years and a lot longer coverage than many other machines. It cleans my pots and pans amazingly well, much better than I can manage with a sink of soapy water and it is kind to my glassware which I also put into the machine. However, do check that you can put your pots and pans in the dishwasher before you actually do so.
So for those of you who hate the thought of washing up like did then get yourselves one of these machines quick.
