Disadvantages: results slightly disappointing

The Miele dishwasher was a replacement for a Neff machine which was over 10 years old. I chose it because of the A ratings for wash, dry and energy performance. Also, I liked the idea of an extra shelf for cutlery and its quiet operation.

The machine was somewhat difficult to plumb-in due to restricted space at the back of our kitchen units and the fact that the hose has a box built onto it which I think is for stopping waste water flowing back into the machine.

Build quality is good but not as sturdy as our old Neff machine. The cutlery tray in particular is somewhat light in construction and wouldn't stand up to mis-use by children.

I use the 55 degree "universal plus" program usually and get quite good results with Finish tabs in the dispenser. Sometimes cereal bowls and plates are not 100% clean and I've noticed that I have to be careful not to stack things very close together. The cutlery tray saves room but again, sometimes forks are not all perfectly clean.

Hot damp air is blown out through a small vent in the door during drying, so standing in front of the machine when this is happening is not very pleasant. Drying is OK but I still need to dry off plastics and the bottom of mugs with a teatowel before putting them away.

Overall, I think the machine is good and best of all is extremely quiet, but a little disappointing on wash and drying results when compared with my old machine.
