... only is this umentionable piece of rubbish unfit for purpose (it washed items poorly) but it is also, somewhat surprisingly, dangerous. I received an electric shock on a number of occasions and have now ceased using it because a leak onto some electrical component is causing a spark and is now a fire hazard. Smeg DWF64 SS ... the second time £48. These parts are design faults and the cost is extortionate and smeg should rectify this. I am a competent mechanic but smeg insist on getting there own engineer to tell me what I allready know and charge me yet another rip off sum. If you want quality there are cheaper makes made here in this country where spares cost a fraction of the price. I will never buy smeg again .Its all about good marketing and I have to hand it to them ,they have aimed these bad appliances at the minimalist design market. Smeg have have cleverly cladded what is primarily sub standard mechanical components in a very pretty stainless case. Buy smeg at your peril !!!!!!!... Smeg DWF64 SS ... bought this stainless steel model 4 years ago, It looked good (and still does) but there are only two of us and in the 4 years it has broken down twice. First to go was the thermostat which tell the timer to move on, only a small repair job this one, but recently the impellor that pushes the water round the machine disintergrated at the barring. Also other bits of plastic have broken off inside ie the top sprinkler and onther bit on the waste basket. To replace these bits of plastic is expensive. Smeg STX1 ... bought a new flat full of smeg appliances. They look great, but in fact they are the most unreliable kitchen applicances I've ever come across. from the washer dryer to the dishwashwer to the over. All are constantly breaking down, and have done almost from day one. I would never buy a smeg appliance again. They may look great but I'd much prefer something that was reliable.
