Advantages: Good metal sound; durable.

Disadvantages: Short battery life for the gigging musician; a bit limited with regards to sounds for other genres.

This is a pedal that is without a doubt made for metal, which I guess the name gives away!

You're not going to get much in the way of a blues or rock from this pedal. It definitely has a metal quality to it almost all the time. To get a good sound out of it can require quite a lot of tweaking, but that's the case with just about every piece of gear you'll ever use. Also, the EQ should be used in quite a careful, balanced manner so that there's not too much of anything. It's quite easy to boost the lows too much and get something that sounds boomy or boost the highs and get a harsh sound. Although this will depend on your amp settings and guitar.

I've had it for about 5-6 years I think and it has held up very well. I've had no technical problems with it and it has withstood being stood on countless times and thrown about now and then.

My main contention would be that the battery needs replacing quite regularly. If you're going to be gigging with it then it would be a good idea to get a power adapter.

In summary, the pedal is durable and through the right amp can sound really good.

Summary: Good pedal for the metal musician.
