Stanton - iTrack ... sound and build quality, I have the bluberry which look good too. One real advantage I found was that the set I bought them in came with two spare stylus per cartridge, each stylus is supposed to give a minimum of two thousand hours play time, so thats a minimum of 6,000 per cartridge or at an average of 3 hours play a day, about 6 years worth, if like me you probably average 10 hours a week total on your decks thats:- erm..... well I reckon I wont be replacing them till about 2015,so not bad for the money(I wonder if my decks'll last that long......) Stanton - 500 AL II ... seen ads for these around, selling them very cheaply so i immediately dismissed them as crap and carried on reading. my mistake i believe. a few months ago when i was still playing around with my first set of decks i had a mate round so i thought i'd demonstrate my amazing skills to him, marvellous i thought. He was suitably impressed by my mixing skills yet commented on the poor sound quality i was experiencing. i hadnt thought about this so i had a quick listen and he was right, it was crap. A quick flick through a magazine and my bank statement led me to the decision that these were the cartridges for me (price being the decider) i found the cheapest ... Ortofon - ConcordeDJS ... transmitted along the arm of the turntable and into the mixer. STYLUS The Stylus comprises of a small plastic clip on bit at the end of the cartridge that holds a small metal diamond tipped needle. The needle is placed in the groves of the record and generates the sound of the tune. Simple. So Ortofon produce some of the best Cartridges and styluses on the market for us dj's. The ones I use vary from occasion but all are Ortofon branded. The one I am going to talk about is the concorde DJS. Made out of Blue plastic, the Concorde DJS is about 6cms in length with a small plastic handle positioned at a 90 degree angle to the cartridge. This is used for ...
