Advantages: Additional eq controls to shape your tone

Disadvantages: for the price you cant argue!

Im a very keen guitarist and have been for many years, more recently i have got into production and i now record quite few artists and bands, i am always coming across a band using distortion in their effects setup or needing the effect myself and because i use it so much i needed to find a unit that was capabe of producing a nice solid tone to work with!

I first heard about the digitech 'bad monkey' from a friend who used one and recommended them as being a very solid sounding distortion with nice variables so i decided to look further.

I went in to my local music store who sold them and tried one out and was surprised very quickly at how good they sounded for the price.

The pedal features one input and two outputs allowing the user to had a line level going from the pedal to their amplifier and another to be routed directly into a mixer for processing later, as a producer, this feature alone is very handy!

The unit has 4 adjustable knobs, level, which sets the general volume/amplification of the pedal, gain, which is the amount of distortion added to the original tone and a set of equalisation controls (low and high) to get the more defined tone that your searching for.

Of course the pedal is activated and bypassed the same as most other pedals of this kind, by treading/stamping on the bass of the pedal for ease of use without bending down all of the time!

This pedal is very useful not mater what instance you're using it whether it be a gentle blues distortion to a heavy rock tone, you will really love the sound it can produce, the tube overdrive tone from the pedal will cover pretty much everything distortion related!

I would recommend guitarists to definently check out this pedal, alot of music stores stock them and even if you go in and have a play like i did i'm sure you will agree with what ive said!

Summary: Great buy for guitarists looking for their own tone!
