This ain't no toy
Member Name: lankmarka
Advantages: Loud, overdrive toggle, compact size, headphone output, Marshall logo :)
Disadvantages: Doesn't go up to 11
I've got the smaller version of this, with just the faux-'head' and top 'cab'. I've had it about 10 years now, having initially bought it primarily because it looked cool! However, I still use mine all the time. It's much more practical than my old practice amp, and actually does go surprisingly loud. OK, not loud enough to play with a band - don't be silly :) - but certainly loud enough to rock along to your CDs at a decent volume.
This thing is compact enough to wear on your belt, and comes with a belt clip attached for this purpose. And because it runs off a single 9V battery, you truly are portable. Its size makes it perfect for taking on holiday with you, and jamming in your hotel room! And because it's got a headphone output, you won't disturb anyone else.
Marshall - or whoever actually makes these, I'm guessing maybe they've just licensed the name - have really thought this one through. As well as tone/volume control, you also have an overdrive channel. And when this is cranked up, you actually get some serious distortion on this bad boy! Again, another reason why this is so portable - no need to plug your DS1 in.
It may look like a gimmick or toy, but trust me, it's a truly useful piece of kit.
Summary: Really useful, especially for the price. I prefer this over more expensive 'proper' practice amps.
