Peavy amplifiers are great starters for beginners because the are not very expensive at all. They give you all that you need in order to play the electric guitar but with not too much volume so you can practice and practice as much as you want and not worry about the noise. As an amplifier to use for gigs and so forth when you need volume and quality, you are best going for either a more xpensive, bigger amp or something like a 'Laney' which is more suited to that kind of job. The situation you are in will determine what amp you buy, as new beginners would do well to buy a relatively cheap one of these, but a more experienced player like myself needs a more powerful, quality amplifier.
