Advantages: Good quality sound with excellent back cueing

Disadvantages: Is it worth the price?

I recently ventured into the world of 'professional' cartridges by moving from the Stanton 500ALII to the Trackmaster. With a price difference of around £70 a pair, I was justifiably sceptical although after a few weeks I am beginning to fully appreciate the difference.

The immediate noticeable benefit is the sound difference. Being a disciple of the quality hi-fi culture, I was satisfied with the improved, louder, crisper tones that the cartridge supplied. However, my main concern was the practical side of the Trackmaster. As far as turntables are concerned I am mainly interested in the destructive art of scratching. I had previously had problems with the 500 series with regards to jumping and becoming worn very quickly but these problems seem to have been reduced with the Trackmaster. As long as the weight etc. is set up properly, the Trackmaster holds the groove very well even through many back rotations.

I must confess that I haven't had to use the Trackmaster in any professional situation and I haven't used it very much for beat-matching nor have used any other similar standard model to compare it with but even so I appreciate the enhanced performance very much. The other added benefits are the snazzy design and the easy change needle connection.
