Honestly you ought to try this or at least another Laney out in a shop first. I love it though.

I think this amp's sound may be something of an aquired taste however I personally love it. It features a solid state clean channel but incorporates a valve in the 2 drive channels (I believe). Overall it has incredible warmth and a really beautiful sound.
First off I can say it weighs a hell of a lot and to anyone without a roadie this it is kind of a pain to move around to be honest I'm not sure if any amp this size is any lighter.
Its rated at 100 watts and for that I'd say its on the quiet side. Don't let that fool you though this thing is super loud! I've only once been to full volume "just to see".
The most important thing is the sound. Like I said its warm. The clean channel is lovely and the reverb on all 3 channels sparkles. Some might miss the lack of Marshall style crunch, this is an amp more at home in muddy rock a la Queens Of The Stone Age. Which isn't to say its a one trick pony but its got its own particular vibe. Which reminds me; it has a little button marked "vibe" and I don't know what it does but with that pushed in is when this amp shines, it just gives everything that little bit extra.
