Harrowing, insightful and incredibly gripping, Burma VJ is a master-class in documentary films which treats a delicate matter in recent history with great care and manages to maintain interest throughout. The film centres on the situation in Burma at the end of 2007, where anti-governmental protests grew larger and larger and gained momentum for the first time since 1988. In 1988, such protests ended in the deaths of around 3,000 people at the hands of state police.
