Boomer Ball
by luceyliu My dog absolutely loves playing fetch and is quite fond of tennis balls. He is a collie and also loves exploring the countryside around us. Unfortunately he likes to bring his balls on his journeys and they get lost far too often. I end up having to buy a pack of tennis balls every month and it can be really ... frustrating. I tend to not buy him toys that are too expensive because I'm afraid he will disgard them in some ditch. The lady is the local pet shop recommended this boomer ball to me after I told her about the nuisance. The boomer ball is available in many different sizes and it is very heavy. It is not designed to be used for fetch. Your dog is meant to push it around with their nose and chase it around as it rolls away. They can't actually pick it up because it's bigger than their own mouth. It might seem like a stupid idea having a ball that a dog can't pick up but it was just the solution we needed! I just leave our dog with this outside and he can get his exercise and fun by chasing it around the tarmac but he can't pick this up and loose him when he is roaming. Now I keep the tennis balls for when I am playing with him myself and he doesn't mind because he has the boomer ball to entertain him. This really is a great item and it is perfect for anyone who find themselves constantly buying new balls for their dog. Whether they burst them or lose them this is a great solution as an alternative to fetch. The ball cost me 8 euro in Maxi Zoo and is available in either blue or red. Read the complete review |

Boomer Aqua Football
by ally_kats_mama After our unsuccessful experience with the Boomer Ball, I was a bit disappointed when my Mum happily came in with the Boomer Aqua Football but I really didn't have the heart to tell her that as she seemed so pleased with the purchase. I just had to bite my tongue and go with the flow whilst standing on my husband's foot when he started ... about to bring up the Boomer Ball! The Boomer Aqua Football is supposed to float on water and gives your dog something to play with whilst they are swimming whether it be in the sea or a lake. The product is a little strange to look it. It is not a traditional football shape but an American Football shape or even a rugby ball so football is a little misleading. It has little spikes covering it and it is attached to a long blue piece of cord which your dog can carry it with if they prefer to instead of holding it in their mouths or you can use it to throw it. The Boomer Aqua Football is bright orange in colour (though DooYoo's picture would have you believe that it is red). The cord is royal blue and well made as well as being sturdily attached to the ball itself. The ball is hard but a medium sort of hard. There is enough give in it for your dog to be able to catch it as well as gnaw on it should they wish to. It looks fairly durable and it is made from natural rubber so there is nothing toxic about it that could harm your dog. As well as being a toy for dog entertainment purposes it has also been proven to be great for your dog's dental health as it massages the gums and strengthens the teeth. We took this to the park for Ben and firstly we just threw it about the park to see if he liked it. When it hit the floor, it bounced a little first and then stayed on the floor. He sort of did. He went chasing after it but the problem was when he went to pick it up. He just wouldn't do it. He would put his mouth around it and then drop it like it was stinging him and go down on his front legs and bark at it. I then realised he didn't like the spikey bits. After a couple more minutes barking at it, he came up with the idea of picking it up by the rope cord and that is how he plays with it. He will not touch the ball itself, not even to gnaw at it. My husband threw the Boomer Aqua Ball into the lake and Ben went in after it - it did actually float (surprisingly) and Ben got it with ease though still holding it by the cord though he seemed happier to play with it on dry land. Aisde from when we are out and about, Ben doesn't play with the toy. He seems to much prefer his other toys to this one. We often take two or three to the park with us and when my daughter holds them out to him he always picks something else over the Boomer Aqua Football. It is an okay toy - Ben doesn't seem overly struck on it and I think it is because of the spikey bits on the ball itself. I think he would really like it if it was minus these if I am honest. I give this toy 3 DooYoo stars - it is well made and a bit different but my dog just doesn't like it much. Other dogs might though. Read the complete review |

Boomer Ball
by ally_kats_mama Our German Shepherd loves to play with balls. What dog doesn't? I am sure Ben isn't the only dog in the world to have a bigger selection of balls than Manchester United! But we have all types of balls - tennis balls, bouncy balls, squeaky balls and the Boomer Ball. I had heard a few good things about the Boomer Ball from ... other dog owners and thought it would be something Ben would like so after a little bit of searching I purchased him a blue 8" Boomer Ball - I couldn't find it in any shops so I purchased it online. The Boomer Balls come in 3 different sizes - small, medium and large and they all depend on the size of your dog. I purchased the medium 8" one as I had seen the 10" one whilst out in the park and it looked huge! The balls are supposed to be completely indestructable and alot of fun for your dog. I was a bit confused when the ball arrived as it was very heavy and when I gave it Ben he couldn't get his mouth around it to pick it up at all. It didn't make any noises or anything like that. It was just a big ball which couldn't be broken. Apparently the ball floats as well but we have never tried it to be honest as it has just ended up being put in the corner with his other toys and forgotten about. Don't get me wrong, Ben did try to play with it. He nosed it about and let it roll. He cased after it but his immediate reaction when he reached it after chasing was to try and pick it up which he couldn't do. It left him frustrated and just made him bark at it and look at me with eyes that looked as though he were asking "Why can't I pick it up?". He loves to pick his toys up and carry them about but the Boomer Ball just didn't give him that option. I think the ball is only indestructable because your dog cannot pick it up! I think that is how they can make that claim! Based on our experience I would not recommend going out and buying this ball blindly. I think it may be a good idea if you know someone with a dog and a Boomer Ball to have a look at theirs and see if your dog likes it because it is a really hit and miss toy.
