Trixie Rubber Ring
by kaitlinsmummy
As someone who had never had a dog before i assumed i wasn't going to be the best person to get all the stuff we needed for our new puppy, but i was of course volunteered whilst my husband went to pick her up!
After a seemingly never ending shopping trip to pets at home, i finally came away with what i deemed the right stuff, ... and even managed to purchase a few chew toys for her too, though this one in partiuclar has had the most use, with it being (in my humble opinion anyway!) the least exciting looking toy of the bunch!
The ring itself is made from a very sturdy and dense rubber, making it almost solid and reasonably heavy, heavy enough in fact that i was surprised that Belle was able to pick it up, let alone run around growling at it, whilst it hangs from her mouth!
I am told that like children, Belle will soon start loosing her baby teeth (though not all of them like i was expecting, i was looking forward to her not nipping me when she gets excited!), and due to her teeth irritating her she will get a bit more chewy and nippy around the 11- 12 week age, which would be now!
The ring is nice and dense enough for Belle to have a really good chomble on, perfect for teething pains, but she also seems to find it fascinating that she can carry it in her mouth, but with a quick flip of her head she can actually wear it and keep it in her mouth too, (making her look like a gimp!), though she will soon be unable to do this as she is growing at a ridiculous rate!
We have had the ring for five weeks now, and it is showing signs of being chewed (which is unsuprising as Belle's teeth are like needles!), but has not started to disintigrate like some of the lesser toys have (we have had three casualties already!), at that point it will have to be thrown away, but the ring is still going strong!
Price wise i pucrhased this from my local Pets at home, for around the £4.00 mark, which for how well it seems to be holding up is fantastic value.
I would highly recommend this product, it is hard wearing and perfect for when your puppy is teething.

Zooplus Dispenser for Dog Poop Bags

ZOOPLUS DISPENSER FOR DOG POOP BAGS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I am a regular customer of the website Zooplus which I have always found to be excellent for all sorts of products for animals. Everything is of a superb quality, delivery is free over £19, and the site has many unusual ... and innovative ideas to make life easier with pets. My latest find is the Zooplus dispenser for poop bags- not a nice title or subject - but one that is of paramount importance in dog ownership!
I have a dear little Shih Tzu called Molly and she goes everywhere we go, more or less, and I always used to carry a supply of poop bags in my pocket until I discovered the dispenser. Thank goodness too as it isn't the most feminine of items to have in your pocket, and certainly not the most glamorous!
The dispenser is heart shaped and black, and has a zip opening to allow refilling of the unit. It also has a small opening through which you pull the bags as and when needed. In addition, and in my opinion its most important attribute, is an integral Velcro strap which can be attached to the dog lead towards the top, or if you prefer to the collar or even to your own belt. I attach mine to Molly's lead and so I know that she will always have them to hand as required. The dispenser is quite small and lightweight and measures only 7 by 8 cm. For the current reduced price of £1.99 this is a massive bargain over the rrp of £3.99!
The dispenser is fantastic in that although Zooplus sell the refills for £1.29 for 4 rolls of 12, the dispenser is also perfect for rolls made by other manufacturers that fit the 22.5 by 30cm size criteria.
Molly is 12 this month, and for all her life I used to carry bags around with me in my pocket, but when travelling sometimes this could be difficult. This would be especially true in warm weather on Motorway service area toilet stops, when sometimes I would realise that my coat was in the car and the bags were too! It is just so lovely to know that they are there ready to use. They are actually a good size though not giant - ideal to be used just once and then tied up as required and disposed of. I do purchase larger bags which are better for lawn clearing, - Molly sometimes does several at home over a couple of days and I postpone clearance pending better weather, or even the appearance of a willing husband!
On my recent holiday to Scotland this was a first trial of the dispenser as Molly was with us on this trip. As I wasn't sure how good this would be I only had the bags the dispenser came with which was a starting pack. However to my delight I went into what must be the most remote Co-op in the UK in North Uist and there I spied a pack of 4 Bob Martins bags - the perfect size! This was brilliant so I now have a good supply of bags ready for the winter!
The bags seem to be of excellent quality that were supplied with the dispenser, so I would have no hesitation in recommending them and will certainly re-purchase. I have signed up for a small fee to enjoy 5% off for 3 years on this Zooplus website for all purchases, which is a perk they offer for regular customers, but for the current price of £1.29 for 48 bags you can't go wrong anyway discount or not.
There is just one possible negative being that the dispenser will fit up to a belt or lead that is 3.5cms wide. This is perfect for Molly but maybe a consideration if you have a very wide belt or lead.
Molly stays a lot with us in hotels and so it is imperative for me when I take her out to do her business that I have a system that enables me to care for her personal needs quickly, without causing any kind of annoyance to those who maybe are not dog owners. These bags facilitate the removal of dog waste quickly and efficiently minimising smell and ensuring that I am never caught out unprepared.
I wish I had seen this dispenser years ago, and I will certainly be purchasing another when I purchase my next puppy. I am planning to give these out as extra little Christmas presents to my dog owning friends and relatives as I think they will make lovely little surprises. The dispenser is very attractive to look at in its heart shape, but more importantly it is there when you need it. A superb product from Zooplus! Read the complete review |

Rubber Chicken Dog Toy
by Trendywend1
I have a German Shepherd who goes crazy for squeakies. She has a mountain of them at home, so being so spoilt, i decided to treat her for Christmas. I saw a rubber chicken sitting on the shelf at Pets at Home and decided to buy it. It cost less than £3, so not a bad buy. You can buy them from most places, including supermarkets, ... Wilkinsons etc
Wow, she loved it. The trouble with my dog, she dosn't make her toys last. She has to squeak them until they will squeak no more. This was the case with the chicken. The squeak probably lasted approximately 2 days. Once the squeak had disappeared, the fun had gone and the toy just lay abandoned, but now and again, she has a game with it.
The rubber is fairly durable, but too much pulling, then it is likely to tear. So not advisable to use as a tug toy. There are a few holes, in the chicken now, but i am surprised it is still going, even though it dosn't squeak. It dosn't matter what size your dog is, they will still have fun playing with it. The squeak isn't too loud to annoy the owners either!! Read the complete review |
