We actually have one of these and have had for a while, one side has bristles on it which are quite soft but very close together to smooth the hair off and the other side has prongs with little bobbles on the end like a hairbrush and it works more to massage the skin.

I use the bobbly side first on my 2 cats and they love the massaging effect so it gets them in the mood for more brushing. Then I switch to the other side and brush them to take off loose hairs. I have to say they adore the bristle side and even like to rub their little cheeks on it, it's considered a great fuss tool in our house! It's very gentle and does take off a small amount of hair but doesn't get very far into the fur.

If you were aiming for a thorough brushing session and your cat was moulting this is not the best brush on the market, it wouldn't take off huge amounts of fur and I wouldn't think it would be very useful for longhairs at all, the bristle side wouldn't get into the fur and the bobbles on the other side could well get caught in knots, ouch!

But as a general light grooming tool and to give their skin a bit of a massage this is a very handy tool. Obviously as it's all-in-one it's also easier to store and you won't lose one of the brushes. We bought ours for about £5 I think but I don't recall where we got it, probably Pets At Home.

A handy addition to your grooming kit or nice just for a bit of a fussing if you ask my boys and their motors!
