      Dog guard

We have a gorgeous cocker spaniel called Eddie who rather reluctantly comes in the car with us when we go away for the weekend or for trips out to wooded areas, large parks etc. We have a dog cage that he rides in for long journeys when we pack the car up but when its just him in the back we have a guard that goes behind the back of rear seats. We have a hatchback car so this is an easy way of having the dog in the back of the car and being able to take journeys with him.

The dog guard is easy to fit and we actually keep it there all the time as I think it would be more hassle removing it and putting it back every time we didn't want it. The guard is made out of metal so if Eddie wanted to chew it he can without destroying the guard and biting holes in it. It is a mesh guard so although the mesh allows the dog to see through and breath there are not lots of gaps in the metal bard which I would think a dog could get stuck in if they decided to put their paw of leg through the guard to get at something the other side.

The guard works really well at protecting what we have on the back seats and to stop Eddie from jumping over into the back seat. We have two kids who sit in the back so obviously when we are driving we do not want any chance of the dog jumping over onto them. This guard works perfectly at stopping him from doing that keeping him and them safe. The nice thing is though that he can still see through and can feel like we haven't forgotten him or locked him up in the back. This makes the journey nice and somewhat comfortable for him and means he can stretch out along the length of the back boot and is not stuck all cramped up in a cage.

The guard is adjustable which is good as it means you can make it fit your car. The guard is adjustable two ways so when you first put it in you can have it on its small setting them you can move the guards either side so it fits horizontally and you can also move it up and down so you can make sure that the guard goes all the way to the roof so Eddie is protected. According to the paperwork the guard will fit to a minimum size required of 33" high and 36"wide and with a maximum size required of 42" high and 54" wide.

We purchased this for £15 from Tesco and have been pleased with it and really don't have anything bad to say about it, its fit for its purpose and is great for our dog.
