I have one of these Bags on Board dispensers and have done since my dog was a puppy. I think they are a great thing for making sure that you don’t forget to take bags out with you.
I really believe that all responsible dog owners should always take some poop bags out with them when they go a walk as there is nothing worse than being out yourself and standing in dog muck. The only problem is that it is so easy to actually forget them.
This dispenser should ensure that you never need to remember to take bags because as long as you refill it once all the bags are gone then will always have it on you when you walk.
The dispenser is shaped like a bone which I think is a cute touch and it has an attachment on it so that you can clip it to your dog’s lead, collar or your belt. I have a blue one but it does come in other colours too.
The dispenser is very lightweight so it doesn’t feel heavy when you clip it on to something. I tried it on my dog’s collar and although it wasn’t heavy it did irritate him so I clipped it on his lead instead.
With the dispenser you get a roll of bags which contains 30 bags which are really good quality bags. They are strong and they are also leak proof so you can be sure that when you pick up any mess it won’t leak out the bag. They are also really easy to get out of the dispenser because there would be nothing worse than trying to hold a lead and get a bag out that was stuck.
Once the included bags are gone you can just refill it again and it is really easy to find a roll of bags in the pet shop which will fit in the dispenser.
I bought this for £2.99 and although I have seen even cheaper ones this is really good quality and will last so I think it is worth having.
My dogs are pretty good and tend to wait until we are off the pavement and in the back of beyond to bury their bums in the hedge and do their toilet. However there are times they just can wait and a little accident happens on the pavement. The worst thing is to find you have no poo bags with you and you need to then go searching for something to pick the offending item up with.
There little holders make it easy to have poo bags with you at all times and hardly take up any space.
What is wrong with a shopping plastic bag or a bag of poo bags I hear you shout. Well here is the good part. Shopping bags are fine and do the job but as a reviewer has stated before, not the best for the enviroment and not very "packawayable", they ake you look like you have a bulge on your side. You can get "bags" of poo bags from pet shops and just the rolls of poo bags but there are problems with just taking these out also. The bags of poo bags do not pack away very easily and I fine that I need to leave the pack at home and pick a few bags up each walk. Not good when you are in a rush or not thinking straight.
The roll of poo bags on their own are also problamatic as I have found when pulling them out my pocket and holding one end the other end has tumbled to the ground into the road like a long roll or toilet paper being unravelled by the andrex puppy. Very embarassing.
So these little items are great, just pop the roll of bags in and hey pesto you have a neat little dispenser to be able to get one bag out at a time and fits away neatly into your pocket or clips onto your lead via a little clip.
Perfect. You never leave the house without them, never have them roll down the road unravelling and never take up much room in your pocket. The item can be picked up for about £1-£2 depending on where you buy them from and the price of bags varies also depending on where you get them, if they are biodegradable or scented (my preference). Usually £1.99 for 4 rolls.
Picking up poo is one of these yucky tasks of owning and loving dogs and these little inventions really help.
If only every dog owner used them, we would have no poo on the pavement and a cleaner world.!!
I truly believe that it is every dog owners responsibility to clean up after their dogs and ensure that they do not leave any mess behind. I absolutely hate when I see an owner allow their dog to poop on the grass or the pavement and not clean it up and I have been known to go up to them and say something. Fair enough if you are in the middle of the country or the woods and there is little chance of anyone actually stepping in it but when you are in a public park or road it is a different matter entirely.
There is nothing worse than stepping into dog muck and having to clean it off your shoe. That's why I always make sure I carry a bag with me at all times so that I can clean up after Molly.
Bags on board are basically just little dispensers filled with a roll of bags that you use to pick up your dog muck. They are incredibly simple yet completely genius little products that I really wouldn't be without now.
I have one that is in the shape of a bone and it is made of a thin plastic and is pink in colour. What makes them so handy is that they actually attach to your dog lead meaning that you will never again forget to take bags with you. To do this is easy as there is a little plastic handle built into the dispenser for attaching onto things.
The bags are completely enclosed in the dispenser and there is a little hole where you remove a bag when you need it. They way the bags sit in the dispenser and roll means that when you remove one it is only one that comes out and not a few which is great as it cuts down on waste.
The bags themselves are a really good quality and you won't need to worry about them ripping in your hand or god forbid leaking anything out. They are also completely biodegradable so they are environmentally friendly.
Each dispenser comes pre filled with bags and refills are easily available for when the dispenser runs out. I paid £2.50 for my bone dispenser which came with 30 bags and I pay the same amount for 60 refill bags. They are really widely available but prices do vary wildly from the ones I have seen and I buy these in my local chemists of all places as this is the cheapest place I have seen them.
If you don't fancy a bone shaped one they come in other shapes and colours so you should be able to find one to match your dogs and your personality.
I have been using bags on board for awhile now and I really wouldn't be without them. There are now imitations available and I have even seen them in the pound shop but the quality of the bags are nowhere near as good as with these ones and are thin and flimsy so I shall be sticking with these slightly more expensive but higher quality bags for now.
I was browsing my local pet shop the other day when I saw these on the counter. Having never seem them before I was intrigued.
Basically they are little barrels that pop open at the top and a roll of bio-degradable poo bags for picking up after your dog are enclosed. They also have a plastic tie that you can slot through the handle on your lead if you want to and then pull tight, trimming the excess so the barrel is always attached to your lead when you go for a walk.
This is a great idea as it means you won't forget to take poo bags with you when going for a walk. The bags are a really good size too, which is great for big or small dogs. The only thing I don't like about them is that they don't have little handles cut into the shape which means you have to scrunch the top and tie this, rather than tying the handles together like I used to with the Bob Martin ones I used to buy.
The barrels come in all different patterns and I have the leopard skin spot pattern on one barrel that is attached to my back door, (easy for picking up in the garden) and another one that is like a Fire Hydrant on her lead.
They are really cheap too at just £1.99 for the barrel to begin with (complete with a roll of bags inside) and then £1.99 for a set of four rolls which means another 80 bags to refill. I think this is a good price to pay for the convenience you are getting and the natty idea that it is.
A compact refillable dispenser for dog clean up bags.
