A ball your dog cannot pick up

Our German Shepherd loves to play with balls. What dog doesn't? I am sure Ben isn't the only dog in the world to have a bigger selection of balls than Manchester United! But we have all types of balls - tennis balls, bouncy balls, squeaky balls and the Boomer Ball.
I had heard a few good things about the Boomer Ball from other dog owners and thought it would be something Ben would like so after a little bit of searching I purchased him a blue 8" Boomer Ball - I couldn't find it in any shops so I purchased it online.
The Boomer Balls come in 3 different sizes - small, medium and large and they all depend on the size of your dog. I purchased the medium 8" one as I had seen the 10" one whilst out in the park and it looked huge! The balls are supposed to be completely indestructable and alot of fun for your dog.
I was a bit confused when the ball arrived as it was very heavy and when I gave it Ben he couldn't get his mouth around it to pick it up at all. It didn't make any noises or anything like that. It was just a big ball which couldn't be broken. Apparently the ball floats as well but we have never tried it to be honest as it has just ended up being put in the corner with his other toys and forgotten about.
Don't get me wrong, Ben did try to play with it. He nosed it about and let it roll. He cased after it but his immediate reaction when he reached it after chasing was to try and pick it up which he couldn't do. It left him frustrated and just made him bark at it and look at me with eyes that looked as though he were asking "Why can't I pick it up?". He loves to pick his toys up and carry them about but the Boomer Ball just didn't give him that option.
I think the ball is only indestructable because your dog cannot pick it up! I think that is how they can make that claim!
Based on our experience I would not recommend going out and buying this ball blindly. I think it may be a good idea if you know someone with a dog and a Boomer Ball to have a look at theirs and see if your dog likes it because it is a really hit and miss toy.
