A cute lead - but it does the job.

My sons often wear camoflauge combat trousers. So I thought it was fun to get the dog a leash that matched. This is available in pink and blue. Pink would perhaps have been more appropriate as our dog is a female - but neither my husband nor my son would want to walk her with a pink leash so blue it was. The leash is a pale blue on one side with a blue camoflauge print on the other. It is a reasonable price at only £4.99. A matching collar is also available, which I have only just noticed and may well pick up at only £4.99 extra if it fits. These are only available in small sizes.

I do like the print on this lead, but honestly it was bought simply as a cheap functional lead. It is thin, at 1 cm, and perhaps ideally suited for smaller dogs, but my staffy is trained to walk without dragging people, so it is suitable. My husband does say he prefers a thicker handle though. I'm still looking for something a bit nicer, but this will do the job, and the way we destroy leads with too much time in the ocean, a cheap lead suits our purposes best. This is smaller clasp than our previous lead, and for this reason, it mightn't suit an extremely powerful dog. The handle is not padded so this might be uncomfortable with a dog that really pulls. I would expect a dog that really teethes at the lead to make short work of this well.

The length is comfortable at around 40". It's a nice light weight and I don't feel like this drags at her collar at all. It is light enough you could leave it trailing with close supervision when training a puppy. It folds up quite small and easy to stuff in a pocket. The down side to this is it often gets left in pockets making it harder to find. Of course the lead itself will not rust, but I'm sure the clasp will - it's just a matter of time.

In short, this is simply an average lead, with the gimmick of a cute print, but it suits our purposes well enough. But it's funny how a change of lead affects peoples attitudes to an animal. Strangers seem much more willing to approach her with her cute lead than the large chain.

I am giving this lead 5 stars. It isn't the best lead I have ever owned, and it might not suit every dog, but I don't feel it was meant to. It is good functional lead at a fair price, and that is all I am asking for.
