Chuck A Duck
Advantages: Multiple uses, good value for money
Disadvantages: Padded area can get a bit soggy
I came across the 'Chuck A Duck' toy as I was browsing through the internet and decided to purchase it and see what my dogs thought of it.
Chuck A Duck
The Chuck A Duck toy comes from the Hurl-a-toys range. As far as I am aware there are three varieties of this toy which are; Chuck A Duck, Heave A Beaver and Hurl A Squirrel. There is also a Cat A Whirl toy in this range although this differs slightly from the others. All the hurl toys are very similar with the relevant animal in the middle of the toy.
About The Toy
The Chuck A Duck is shaped just like a frisbee and is about the same size. Around the outside of the toy there is a thick piece of rope with a cartoon picture of a duck in the middle. The duck in the middle along with the middle section of the toy is made from padded material so the inside of the toy is actually quite soft. The toy is brightly coloured with a purple background behind the duck and most of the rope is a bright orange colour. Chuck A Duck is written twice around the piece of rope in green writing.
As I already mentioned I bought this product online from http://www.shop-com.co.uk where it costs £3.99. Prices vary depending on which retailer you decide to buy from.
Josh absolutely loves to play, he's a very sociable dog and every time we bring a new toy home, he loves to play with it straight away and this toy was no exception. Josh also likes to chew and he particularly enjoys chomping on the thick piece of rope around the outside of the toy. Josh and my other collie Dax enjoy playing with each other and this toy is often used as a tuggy between the two of them, with each of them trying to pull it away from the other one. The other use this toy has, is that is can sort of be used like a frisbee due to its shape. Although it doesn't work exactly the same as a frisbee and has a tendency to wobble as you throw it, it still has the desired effect and my dogs love running after it and bringing it back for me to throw again.
Josh also enjoys mouthing lots of his toys and he sits with them in his mouth just sucking on them. With the inside of this toy being soft and padded, he gets the best of both world's as he can play tuggy with Dax but also sit and chew the softer part of the toy.
I thought that this toy was quite an original idea, a toy that is shaped like a frisbee but can also be used as a tuggy toy. My dogs do play with this toy on a regular basis and Josh certainly chews it on a regular basis and it has been very durable so far, with only a slight bit of wear to it. Many of the toys I buy for my dogs are ruined within days of getting them, purely because they are not made very well and fall apart when they begin to play with them. I am pleased to say that this toy does not fall into this category; it is well made, durable and has multiple uses.
I would certainly recommend this product to anyone with a dog, especially a dog who enjoys destroying toys and this one will last you much longer than a lot of the other toys around at the moment. I thought this toy offered good value for money and the fact that it has multiple uses means that my dogs never seem to get bored of it, although I'm not sure border collies ever get bored!
