After having my puppy for a little while, i now feel a little more confident with her, which is why (after taking advice from my brother in law about it!), i decided to attempt to clip her claws myself, rather than the vets.
When we first had her i was advised to get her dew claw removed, which is a claw that sits futher up her leg, away from the paw area, but was told that this was a practise used only for actual working dogs, and just to let it wear down naturally when she started going out for walks.
The problem was that as she started wearing down her claws the dew claw wasn't doing anything, and as she is a rather excitable and jumpy puppy, we all now look like we have been hand feeding Freddie Krueger!
After a quick peruse at Pets at home, i found some clippers that looked easy enough to use, and one's i felt confident in brandishing!
To me these clippers looked like pruning shears, with the blades having a slight curved to them, and being really heavy duty.
The handles themselves are nice and thick, with a slightly textured and rubberised feel to them, making them non slip and comfortable to hold.
I was surprised that Belle actually sat as good as gold whilst having her nails trimmed, though i didn't find them that easy to use!
The packaging that the clippers came in didn't actually have any directions for use, which shouldn't really have made any difference to me right?, wrong as these clippers had the cutting blades, and also a seperate blade that didn't seem to do anything, but kept getting in the way!
I think the idea of the extra blade is to protect the dogs claw from being trimmed too short, but how this was supposed to work is still a mystery to me!
The price of these is actually a bit more than i was expecting to spend too, being around the £15.00 mark, and though a little confusing initially, by no means unusable (especially at that price!).

These are an ok set of clippers, though am unsure whether i would or wouldn't recomend.
