I've got four dogs and they're walked daily in a large field not too far from my house. While they're generally well behaved and stay close by, there's been some slightly scary occasions when the naughty one, Clyro has done a runner. He usually comes running back a few minutes later with a rabbit in his mouth, but the main reason that I got these dog tags was to ensure that if he or any of the others ever did get lost, if anyone found them they would be able to contact me immediately rather than going through the process of finding out the microchip details.

I bought these via eBay from a seller who was offering to engrave them at an extra fee. Unengraved, these retail at around £3.99 each depending on where you purchase them from which for a rather plain and somewhat pointless accessory I feel is quite expensive and I have seen some very similar ones in poundland. To be fair though the quality is decent and my four dogs have had these for a while now and there are no scratches or dents. I paid £4 for each of mine which considering that I had my phone number engraved on them is a good price in my opinion.

The 'pendant' is just a round disc which measures 3cm. It is made of a thin, lightweight metal. The pendant has a cute paw print on the front and several colours including pink and blue are available. I opted for boring old black as I thought that the coloured ones looked a little tacky. I like that the silver bone stands out against the black background and the silver border is a nice touch too. The pendant is marketed as 'a special ornament for every dog' aka jewellery, which I find a little bizzarre and although these do look quite nice I don't think I'd buy them purely for decoration.

The pendant was easy to attatch to the dog collars as it has a little metal ring - the same type that you get on keyrings. The pendant stays in place rather than rocking from side to side or switching sides around when the dog moves, meaning that the side with the paw print design is always visible and the silver, engraved side can only be seen when you turn the disc around. The disc is lightweight and adds no weight to the dogs' collars and the disc doesn't rub against the dogs skin/fur or anything like that.

We've had these discs for a good year and a half now and they're a little grubby and not as shiny as they once were but they do the job in keeping my dogs identified which puts my mind at rest that if they ever get lost they will be returned safe and sound! If you are looking for a pendant which adds a bit of glitz and glamour to your dog's collar though, I personally wouldn't choose one of these as they're quite basic in my opinon.
