Advantages: Pretty durable, good value, multi-purpose
Disadvantages: Handle came apart quite quickly
This toy popped up on my Amazon recommendations a few weeks ago and seeing as I had a little money left on my gift card balance I decided to buy it. My dogs absolutely love their kong and they're big fans of tug of war so this seemed like the perfect toy.
The retail price for the large one, which is the size that we have is around £11.00. I managed to get mine for £9.23 which seems quite expensive for a dog toy but I assure you that it is worth it as it is really well designed and my dogs love it! It is not completely indestructable and the handle has come apart but the kong itself and the tassles are durable. The toy is available in sizes small, medium and large so it is suitable for all breeds of dogs. One thing to bear in mind though is that the large is more like a medium so the medium will be more like a small but our large one is still a decent size, just not as large as expected.
The toy came attatched to a large cardboard label which had a red and white colour scheme. I feel that this is a bit of a waste of packaging but it does have a little information on it about what the product is. The manufacturers describe it as an interactive tug and toss toy with an easy to use tug handle. It is basically a medium sized kong shape but it's not a proper kong - you can't put treats in it like a normal kong because the material fills the centre.
The looped handle comes out of the top end and the 'tails' come out of the bottom of it. The material is very thick and durable and it is blue with the kong part being the usual red colour. Any toy with a looped handle is always a concern but the loop is way too small to get stuck around my dogs' necks but it is the perfect size for me to be able to hold comfortably and my dogs can easily grip it with their mouths. The handle lasted for around a week before ripping but it is still attatched to the kong so they are still able to play with it.
The tassles are very durable and after around three weeks of very regular use they aren't looking too bad - a few teeth marks and frays here and there but other than that they don't look too tatty and they're still in one piece. There is a small squeaker in one of the tassles which I had expected my dogs to really enjoy but they find it hard to find, grip and squeak so they don't really bother with it which I'm glad about to be fair as it's a very high pitched squeak.
All of my dogs love this toy whether it be for chewing, nibbling or cuddling and Pip often takes it to bed and sleeps with it under her chin. It has withstood four dogs pulling in opposite directions as well as me pulling on it with all my might while playing tug of war with them. Once one of the dogs starts playing with it they will all join in and start chasing each other around the garden trying to get it which keeps them entertained and tires them out! The toy is very bouncy as well which my dogs like - it's great for playing fetch and it is a fun alternative to a normal tennis ball.
