This is an ideal grooming accessory for any dog who has a double coat/thick hair. I bought this in desperation, because my German Shepherd is prone to thick hair around the hock area. I was forever using a comb and slicker brush, regulary, but not getting much hair out. This is brilliant and loosens the hair as well as removing it. I then use the slicker brush to finish it off.
But the rake gets right under the hair and removes it so easily. German Shepherds have double coats, so this is an essential item if you are a GSD owner!!
The results are amazing. You start off with a thick bunch of hair and within seconds you can see the result. The prongs move along as you brush, so it is more comfortable for the dog, it isn't like your average comb, where the prongs can catch the skin. They are rounded at the tip and long enough to take effect.
The rubber easy grip handle makes it easy for the handler too! Having worked as a dog groomer in the past, i can certainly recommend this to anyone with a high maintenance dog coat. It takes no effort and as long as you keep up with regular brushing, your dog will be free of unwanted thick hair forever.
