How do you play ball in the dark? Glow ball!!!
Well really the dog doesnt care if it glows or not as they will find it through scent but it is fun to see it moving around the garden glowing!
I got this free in a christmas pack for the dog and thought it a bit uf fun. To be honest it is just a ball for the dog! I'm not sure what this retails at if buying on its own as I got it in a pack. I'm not sure I would have purchased it on itsown anyway.
I was a little concerned about what material was coating the ball to make it glow and hoped this would not hurt them. They have played with it no end so I'm guessing it doesn't hurt them.
The ball is larger than normal tennis balls so this would not be good for little dogs. My dogs seemed to love the larger size and continuly chomp on it when they have it in their mouths.
As far as the glowing goes, I think that is really just for us humans, but then a lot of dog toys are purely for us humans. Doigs would play with a stick from outside just as well!
Good fun toy but not top on my list of priorities!
My husband purchased our German Shepherd, Ben one of these Nylabone Glow In The Dark Balls the other day so that he would have something to play with in the back garden when it was dark. Ben has the habit of taking balls out in the garden when it is dark, losing them because it is so dark and then barking in his frustration. My husband thought this would ease the problem.
The ball only cost him £1.99 so even if it didn't work it wouldn't be breaking the bank plus Ben would have (another) ball.
The Nylabone glow in the dark ball comes packaged in a little netted bag and has a little cardboard piece at the top which tells you what the product is and the company it is made by. The cardboard is yellow in colour and has "Glow In The Dark" written in a spooky effect and it has a green glow in the dark effect around the writing.
The ball itself is nothing amazing. It is just a round ball, slightly bigger than a tennis ball and it is a pale yellow almost translucent colour. It is soft but has a sturdy "I will not puncture" feel to it. The ball has little raised bumps all over it to enhance your dog's grip when holding it in their mouth.
We tested the ball out over the weekend when we took Ben into the garden in the evening at around 9pm and I can honestly say that despite my reservations that "These things never work" this ball really did glow out in the garden. It doesn't glow fantastic but all the same you can see a pale yellow/green light coming off of the ball when he is playing with it or when he is holding it in his mouth.
The ball is also good for throwing too as it has a slight bounce to it so it bounced on our concrete and down the garden, allowing Ben to chase after it and bring it back.
As I said, the glow isn't amazing but it is just enough for you and your dog to be able to see it. Plus it put pay to Ben's consistant barking because he couldn't find his ball in the dark garden which is a plus all round I think.
The ball is well made, durable and does what it says on the label. Plus for £1.99 it is really inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Suitble for night games / floats in water
