“ Manufacturer: Paws and Play / Type: Dog Toys „
When I had my dog I used to spoil him rotten!! However, since he sadly died around eighteen months ago I had no pet to spoil so eventually I started treating my mums King Charles Cavalier more than I used to and decided to buy him a present for his birthday! Yes I am one of those people who likes to buy theor animals for birthdays and Christmas!!
I went to the Pets At Home store as most of the other shops I visited seemed to sell the majority of the plastic dog toys and he has never been overly keen on those so I needed a teddy type toy. I found the Maxi Twister Squeaky Monkey dog toy which is made my Paws and Play, and I knew straightaway that he would love it as it is a soft toy that doubles up as a rope toy!
The toy is a soft bodied cute little monkey that has durable rope for his arms and legs with soft hands and feet also. With the arms and legs being made out of the same material as the rope tugger toys it is great for the dog as they can play games tugging it or just have a good old cuddle and chew! It is a really cheeky looking little monkey which of course means nothing to the dog but makes it a little more appealing to the owners when choosing a toy for their pet and I have to say that this really stood out from the rest of the toys on the stand. There is a squeaker in the monkey's tummy, and I have to admit it isn't one of those really loud ear piercing squeakers, it is quite delicate and doesn't get on our nerves all that much.
The cost of the monkey toy is a whopping £7.19 which is pretty expensive for a dog toy but it is great fun for the dog and is a really good quality, durable toy.
For some unknown reason, my mums dog always seems to go for the faces of his toys first and chews their noses off first and then they eyes. Until he has done this he will not play with the rest of the toy - random much!?! Once he had satisfied himself that he had mutilated the poor monkey enough he then started to play tugging games with us and after a while he will go and curl up with it and go to sleep which is so cute.
My mums dog has now had this toy for around 4 months and as I say, the monkey now has no face and his arms and legs are a little frayed but that has come from being played with almost constantly and all his other toys have been brushed aside completely. I have tried to encourage the dog to play fetch with the toy as he loves it so much but he still will not play it - and that is after years of trying!! I throw the toy and he will either just sit and look at me like I have gone mental or will go and sit by it so its a pointless exercise for me really!
I would recommend this toy if your dog likes soft toys and rope toys as it is both rolled into one and I think that is a fantastic idea! The dog has had hours and hours of fun with it and has certainly got my money's worth out of it so I have no complaints about the price after all.
I give this monkey four out of five Dooyoo stars!
Thank you for reading my review :)
My two year old setter has numerous dog toys in his collection. Most do not last very long and some have received more doggy attention than others! I bought a paws and play maxi twister squeaky monkey from pets at home about a month ago. The decision was based on the cute appearance of this toy. Obviously this is based on a human's perspective as my dog probably sees the toy as prey!
The monkey toy has a really cute face and safe eyes that are stitched in place so can't be eaten! The body is made of a soft, plush material whilst the arms and legs are made of rope. There is a squeaker situated inside the monkey's tummy. The soft body makes this a good toy for a teething puppy. My dog still enjoys a god chew on the body of this toy. The rope arms and legs are stitched securely in place and are good for tugging games. The monkey needs to be pressed in just the right place in order to activate the squeaker; this makes the toy more interested for the dog.
My dog really loved this toy and was particularly excited by the squeaker. However it was only a matter of days before the squeaker ceased to function. Another favourite game is to shake the toy vigorously from side to side before throwing it into the air and catching it. The toy was also offered to me for a game of tug! Unfortunately after just a few weeks play the toy began to come apart, loosing its stuffing. This was followed by the rope arms coming away from the body. Once dog toys start to show signs of wear they should be discarded. I paid £7.19 for this toy and I think that is very expensive for something that only really lasted for a few weeks. I think this toy would be better suited for a puppy or perhaps a smaller dog whose games are less rough than by big brute!
We purchased the Paws and Play Maxi Twister Squeaky Monkey dog toy for our German Shepherd to play a bit of tug of war with and to spice up his usual tug of war toys. We came across the toy in our local pet shop and it was reduced from £7.99 to £3.99 so I thought it was a bit of a bargain.
The monkey is quite comic looking with a funny look on its face. He has a round belly with rope arms and legs. He has hands and feet and a little tail. If your press its belly it squeaks quite loudly. It is well made with proper stitched on fabric eyes which appear to be impossible to remove which is a bonus to me as I always worry about eyes of dog toys coming off.
To be honest Ben needed a bit of coaxing to play with this when I got it home. He didn't like the fact that he couldn't get the toy in his mouth and hold it comfortably as the belly is quite wide. He did end up holding it by either the arms or the legs though.
We started to play tug of war with this toy and the rope for the legs and arms provided a good basis for gripping (or so we thought). Ben was tugging one way and I was tugging the other with him and then Ben got bored, let it go and walked away but he soon returned except this time he wanted my husband to play with him so he picked the toy back up, holding it in his mouth from the hand and dropped it by my husband's feet and gave him bug puppy dog eyes. Now either my husband or our dog is freakishly strong because after 5 minutes of tugging and pulling the arm that my husband had hold of snapped away from the main body and sent my husband flying backwards one way and Ben the other (quite funny at the time if I am honest!). Both my husband and Ben sat there is utter disbelief at what happened. I have to admit, I wasn't impressed. he had only had it a few days at this point and had barely touched it. It went straight in the bin.
I was thoroughly disappointed with this product. I thought it would be durable and long lasting, especially with the attention to quality with the eyes etc but it turned into one big disappointment. An absolute waste of money - definately one to avoid!
Paws and Play Maxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy
Let me start by saying that this is one of the cutest dog toys I have bought for my little pup. If you have read any of my previous reviews you will know that we have added a lovely labradoodle puppy to our family and although we have only had him for a short time he is already living the life of a pampered spoilt pooch.
My puppy has started to teeth and these soft toys seem to be his favourite choice to mouth and munch on. Especially, ones like this monkey, which have both a mixture of harder and soft surfaces to chew on.
There is a squeaky in the monkey's belly, it isn't too annoying or loud and it doesn't squeak too easily. So far this toy has been used to play fetch, catch (although he hasn't quite got the hang of that yet, he really needs to grow into his paws before he has any chance at being coordinated) and just general play. Whenever I pick up this toy his tail wags, but I like that this is one of the few toys that he will play with all by himself, he runs it about the house and throws it up in the air or just waggles it about with his head.
Although this is a great toy it does have limitations, this toy isn't really suitable for tug games even thou it incorporates tug like rope legs. It is also a toy that will have a shelf life, I'm not sure whether this is because my pup loves it, but it already has a few holes where I need to get my sewing kit out to do some surgical repairs.
I bought this from Pet's At Home (a store that I am spending far too much money in over the last couple of months) for £7.19. It is also available to buy from their online store if you don't have access to one of their chain of stores.
I would recommend this toy for anyone that has a puppy, smaller breed dog, or just dogs that like a soft toy and will be good to it. For those adult dogs that like to chew or are harsh on their toys then I doubt that this will last the afternoon.
Overall, I really like this toy and so does my puppy, we both think that this is a great addition to his collection and as such it gets a well earned five out of five stars.
When it comes to Poppy and Coco, they are quite spoilt dogs. My parents and I like to buy them looks of different toys and treats. The most recent spree included about 6 different toys. I have missed them a lot whilst I have been staying over in Belgium and had a bit of a splurge in Pets at Home, with the toy aisle being hit the hardest by me. One of the items that I picked up was Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy.

*Price and Availability*
Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy retails at 7.19. This is probably quite expensive for a dog toy but as it is so cute I put it in my basket anyway and forgot about the price temporarily.
You can buy this dog toy from Pets at Home. You can also buy it online at www.petsathome.co.uk if you prefer to buy via the internet and a number of other online pet supermarkets.
The packaging: Very little packaging come with Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy. It just comes with a piece of cardboard attached by a thin piece of plastic. This is what we like to see: minimal unnecessary packaging.
The toy: Ok so what you want to know is what the toy looks like. First off I should explain that it is designed as a cute and cheeky monkey. The dog toy is made from a plush head, body, hands and feet with hard-wearing rope for arms and legs. The head is quite cartoon-like in its detail with cute cream little ears, big white eyes which are little balls attached to the face and a squiggy brown nose. All of these little bits attached will become detached within the first week or two, at least if your dog is anything like Poppy and Coco. The eyes are the first thing they separate on their toys. As for the body, it is furry and brown with a patch in the middle which is beige.
The arms and legs of this are made from 3 strands of rope (beige, brown and black) wrapped tightly together. These attach the plush hands and feet to the body and give the toy a lot of character and a lot more robustness. The material hands and feet are beige in colour and quite large in size.
Now for its squeaker. It is in the centre of the body of this monkey dog toy. Is it loud and irritating is what you are thinking. And am I going to wish I didn't buy it? Well the answer is no. It is a tolerable squeaking sound that your dogs will love and it won't irritate you (too much) with its sound. Plus if your dogs are like Poppy, they will have ripped it out within a matter of weeks.
So is this a fun and funky dog toy that my dog loves? Oh yes. This dog toy is unbelievably cute in appearance and its mixture of rope and plush makes it fun for my dogs. They go to their box of toys and Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy is regularly pulled out by them.
Is it great for games, chewing and cuddles? Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy is perfect for games and chewing although I'm not so sure that it is all that great for cuddles. At least not for my two Labradors. They much prefer to play games with toys than cuddle with them. The toy is great fun to play tug of war with your dogs because you have the rope parts to grip onto. It is also perfect for fetch in the garden as there are 4 arms/legs for your dogs to catch it with.
Longevity of the product: Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy actually lasts longer than I expected. Poppy makes it her mission to destroy a toy almost as soon as she receives it. This toy was no different. What I like about this product which is different from the rest if the combination of plush and rope which confused her a little and made it that little bit more difficult to rip to shreds with her teeth. The toy lasts in one piece for about a week or two and after this time, she starts to rip apart the plush body, and then the hands and feet. It tends to last in the house for 2 or 3 months until we check the toy over and decided it's time that it goes in the bin or it smells pretty rank and is forced into the bin. On the plus side, the inside of the plush is white and safe for your dogs so you don't need fear for their safety when they are playing with this toy.
I absolutely love this monkey designed dog toy. I now wonder who exactly I bought this product for, me because I thought it looked adorable or the dogs as it looked fun.
*Would I Recommend This Product?*
I definitely would recommend Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy for your dogs. Poppy and Coco have had numerous hours of fun playing ith Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy. I would recommend this toy if you are looking for an item that combines the fun of plush and rope materials and also one which allows you to play fetch, tug of war and a number of other fun games which your dogs.
I think that despite its rather high price tag, Paws and PlayMaxi Twister Squeaky Monkey Dog Toy is a great little product that your furry friends will love. It is cute in its monkey appearance with rope arms and legs and your dogs can have hours of fun with it. This toy has a great combination of textures for your dogs to play with and it can handle a bit of rough handling which is just as well.
