As someone who has never had a dog before one of my concerns (aside from the chewing aspect!) was the smell, my mum in law had a dog a few years ago and her house always smelt doggy, a thing i really didn't want!
As my house is mostly laminate floors, i knew a good mop through with a dog friendly detergent would sort that aspect of the odour out (zoflora mixed in the right quantities is a good dog friendly product), with the dog herself being the only smell i would have!
After a quick peruse in my local Pets at home store, i found that there was quite a good selection of products for such a problem, ranging from shampoo's (wet and dry), wipes through to the spray i will now review for you.
The bottle itself is only a small one holding a mere 125ml of deoderising spray, with a shelf life of 12 months.
The idea of the product is that it can be sprayed directly onto your dogs fur 9dry or wet), then brushed through.
The spray itself contains aloe vera, this not only helps the dogs coat stay shiny and odour free, but also moisturises the dogs skin too, a double whammy then!
The spray works by binding the fungal agent that causes the scent, removing the scent from the fur and leaving behind a very pleasant scent, not overly powerful but nice and fresh smelling.
The products main ingrediant is Byotrol, which is a tested and recommneded agent that is alcohol free, environmentally safe and non-toxic.
For the product to work effectively it has to be used daily until the bad odour has gone, then when the dog gets wet.
You simply spray onto the dogs fur, avoiding the eye and mouth areas, then brush through, to be honest you only need a nice light covering, so once brushed through the fur doesn't take long at all to dry completely, though even if she did have a quick lick it wouldn't have any effect on her.
I have only had to use this a few times (mostly through the really wet period we had just before Christmas), and found it really effective, leaving Belle much nicer to be around!
Price wise this cost me around the £1.30 mark, and so far has only had around 1/4 of the bottle used.
