      A good chew

Anyone who has a puppy will know they can have major issues when it comes to teething and it sometimes plays havoc with other household items when they cannot find a decent product to sink their teeth into.

I brought one of these Rosewood bones before in Mint and one in chocolate and to be fair the chocolate one is much better for many reasons.

The chocolate bone on first viewing seems like a normal bone like you would find in most pet stores and very basic but this is not the case at all.

The bone first off all is shaped in a curved like fashion and has a smell of chocolate which at first you think will not last and you assume if it does it would not last that long either.

The bone is done in a very clever way because it is curved it sort of makes it easier for the dog to associate it as being a toy and the smell draws the dog towards the bone also. The chocolate smell is not overpowering or to rich it is just right.

The dog chew is good because it helps teething and I have had this now just over 5 months and yes some of the bone has disappeared due to wear and tear and it has shrunk slightly but my dog still uses it all the time.

Not only does he still use it but the smell remains the same and this has been taken outside in the rain, left behind with other toys with a different scent and it really does show you how long it can last.

There are drawbacks with a product like this and my biggest problem is when the chewing has begun and the dog begins to take shreds off the bone your left with sharp ends which in theory could open up a gum inside the mouth causing a nasty infection.

I have never experienced this myself but I can see it happening if you didn't cut the ends of like I do sometimes and I think fear is my problem more than it actually happening.

Cleaning is an easy chore you just run it under the tap and then either give it back to the dog slightly wet or dry it up with a cloth and it is ready to use again. I find if my dog has been chewing and then sleeps on it the hairs stick to this bone so it needs to be under water a lot.

The price varies in many locations for this item there is a small bone for those smaller breeds like Terriers and then you have bigger breeds like Labradors which would need the larger one. Prices can range from £4 to £8 and this varies all the time.

In my view it is an excellent teething dog bone because it lets the dog chew for hours at a time without a problem, the smell remains all the time and it is easy to clean which all in total produces excellent results.

One final note when my dog did chew on this for even a small period he seemed happier in himself afterwards with his teeth which surely is a good thing.

        An interesting chew toy

The Rosewood Nylon Chocolate Bone Dog Toy is a product we bought for our dog as a varied addition to the range of dog toys we like to keep for her. Some times these toys tend not to last very long as they fall prey to her sharp teeth and end up in the toy graveyard, otherwise known as the bin. This chew toy was a bit different as it said it was a flavoured product and so we thought it was worth punt to see how our dog took to it.

The range of Rosewood Nylon Bone Dog Toys come in a number of other flavours including this choccy one. We also saw a vanilla based bone toy, a mint flavoured one and this one. As the Rosewood Nylon Chocolate Bone Dog Toy was not listed here, a product suggestion was made and as its now been added I can share my thoughts.

        **********************************************************
The Rosewood Nylon Chocolate Bone Dog Toys are a nice variant on the traditional bone or ring shaped dog toys you can buy. We have also bought the Rosewood Nylon Choo Chums Rings before, which are also flavoured and our dog has liked those too. The texture of this little chew bone toy is varied with a series of ridges and patterns on it to mimic a proper choccy bar product. There is a cute paw print to one side which adds to the overall look of the product, the colour tone is brown to match its choccy based theme.

In terms of durability of the materials used the choccy bone is made from a strong nylon material which is made to withstand a good amount of chewing. We have found that our dog liked the bone rather a lot and would often sit with it having a good old chow down on it an covering it in rather a lot of doggy slobber. We haven't found the bone much worse for wear other then some teeth marks so I feel its worn rather well.

        **********************************************************
Giving our dog these types of chew toys helps to keep her teeth nice and clean and cuts down on tooth problems due to plaque build up etc, so we see them as a dual purpose product which can be fun for our dog to have but also help to keep her in tip top shape. We felt that the Rosewood Nylon Chocolate Bone Dog Toy worked well in the way we hoped it would and would recommend it for dog owners as it offers a nice change for dogs due to the flavoured aspect.

The product can be easily cleaned ad washed if it gets too dirty and for hygiene purposes we do try to give our dogs toys the once over in some lightly soapy hot water every now and then, so as to keep any harmful bacteria that may build up at bay. Having washed this chew toy in this way, by hand I can say that it comes up nicely after a good cleaning and is easily dried ready for re-use. Don't wash this in anything too strongly fragranced, as it may then interfere with the bones built in choccy flavouring.

        **********************************************************
Our dog took to the toy rather well and so I have to say the choccy flavour in the bone has worked for our pet. I cannot say for certain whether it would have the same effect on all dogs but at just £3.49 which is what we paid, its worth trying to see how your pet gets on with it. The product can be used with puppies and also for older dogs and it can certainly take a decent amount of chewing.

The only problem we had with the product was that our dog took it out into the garden and we haven't seen it for a while. There have been no issues at all with the quality of what we bought. We haven't worried about the missing bone toy as we have often have toys go missing and it will probably turn up at some point, needing a good clean before its fit for use again. To rate the Rosewood Nylon Chocolate Bone Dog Toy is easy, our dog really liked it and the flavour aspect added something new and interesting for her, so it gets 5 stars.
