As both my dogs are poodles, I regularly have to take them to be groomed, but because I only take them every couple of months I need to keep their coats tangle and knot free in between visits. This is why I bought this Rosewood Slicker Brush.

~Rosewood Slicker Brush~

This brush is specially designed for de-matting and removing any unwanted loose hairs. The brush has a plastic handle with a rubber grip which is comfortable and sturdy making it easy to hold in order for me to brush my dogs coats. the head of the brush is rectangular and the bristles are short, slightly bent and made of wire. Sounds quite painful really, but it doesn't hurt my dogs when I use this brush, as I use a brushing technique known as Line brushing. This is just the easiest way for me to comb through their coats, especially Reds coat as his fur is very thick compared to Pippas and it does take me quite a while to brush through Red's coat totally, I also need to use a large tooth metal dog comb to get through some of the knots he manages to get in his coat. Sometimes even the scissors come out.

This brush makes getting through their coats a lot easier than if I was using a normal dog brush, poodles seem to have a double coat and so I have to brush them through from the roots then brush their top coat back into place once I have finished, it can sometimes take ages and I end up brushing them on different days, but I knew poodles were high maintenance dogs and so I was prepared for the work I would have to put in with them, but I love them and they are so worth it. Once they are brushed and knot free, their coats look lovely and they feel nice and soft to touch. The slicker brush keeps their coats looking nice and I'd say it's a must have tool if you own a poodle. It makes keeping their coats nice, that much easier.

My Rosewood Slicker Brush cost me £4.00 from a random pet shop but I'm sure you could pick one up from places like Pets at home or Wilkinson's. They come in three different sizes, small, medium and large, I use a small one I'd maybe get away with a medium but I manage fine with the smallest size.

A very useful brush that can be used on numerous different breed dogs and I would totally recommend this brush especially if you have a long haired dog, it makes brushing so much easier. I'm giving 4 stars for the Rosewood Slicker Brush it's a real useful little brush, well worth the money.
