The perfect toy for playing tug

The Rough and Tough Play Ball is another product from Pets At Home's Buttons and Bear range for puppies. My sister bought this for Sawyer when I brought him home - as you can maybe tell from my other reviews of pet products, he is incredibly spoilt and my entire family love him to bits.

      THE TOY
This is a soft toy - the main part is the soft ball in the middle which is covered in beige and cream fabric. At each end of the toy are 6 strips of fabric in various patterns, and at the bottom of each strip are slightly larger squares of fabric which are slightly different in texture.

As with all the products in this range, the colours and appearance are very cutesy and look like baby toys.

Sawyer loved this from the minute he was given it, and it was his favourite out of all the initial haul of puppy toys he had. He enjoyed chasing the ball about if you threw it for him, rolling around with it on the floor, and chewing on both the ball and the strips with his sharp little puppy teeth. Because of the different textures of material, this was great for chewing, and he got a lot of use out of it.

The real attraction with this toy though was the strips of fabric on each side - Sawyer loved it when I held one end, and he held onto the other so we could have a tug of war. It is a great item for play, and for keeping your puppy active and stimulated in order to help with their development.

Despite rather energetic tug of war games with this, the strips did not rip off from the main part of the toy. Nor, despite all the chewing, did they break off or get holes in them. I eventually had to throw this out because Sawyer ripped the stitching in the main part of the ball open, and the stuffing started to come out. However, I blame him entirely for this rather than lack of durability on the toy's part. This is extremely durable and will last a long time provided your puppy isn't also a destructive pain in the bum. For some reason Sawyer can wreck soft toys almost as soon as he gets them; his current record being after half an hour.

This costs £3 which is a bargain - it's very cheap considering the enjoyment your puppy will get out of it.

Yes, I would definitely recommend the Rough and Tough Play Ball. Your puppy will have so much fun with it, and it will last a long time. It's nice and soft for chewing when they are having quieter moments, but is also ideal when you want to have rougher games like tug.
