      Good dog bed

Hooligan Dog had a bit of trouble with his blanket (I won't go into the hideous details) but I decided rather than wash it, I'd just bin it and get him something nicer to sit on.

I found this Scruffs Holbury dog cushion at the discount store Trago Mills. It was priced at about £20. It's available online at prices between £25 and £40, so shopping around is essential.

I liked the look of it because it had tough, water-resistant material on the edges in a dark green tartan design. This is 600 denier, so intended to be very durable. It has a soft black corduroy centre piece for the dog's comfort, with the pawprint & Scruffs name embroidered in gold in one corner. On the underside is a bobbly material for grip, so that it shouldn't slide about when leapt on joyously. The seams are covered with a brown faux leather piping. It's rather nice, a bit posh and luxurious looking.

There's a zip on the bottom of the cushion. Both the filling (in an internal white liner) and the cover are washable. The cushion comes in green and brown colours.

It's a good size for Hooligan Dog (a Husky x English Bull Terrier abomination), at about 2 ft wide and 3 ft long, and it's well-stuffed with an 100% recycled green fill, so nice and soft. He took to it immediately, and looked most comfy.

So tempting a spot did the cushion provide it wasn't long before the cat was sitting slap-bang in the middle, with the dog looking somewhat bemused and affronted on the floor!

I was hoping the dog cushion would last a good long time, but it wasn't to be. A few weeks later, Hooligan Dog unfortunately decided to chow down on it while left alone - the tougher edges didn't suffer, but he managed to rip open the corduroy and discover the exciting green stuffing, which he pulled out merrily. (He's only young). It was beyond help, so was another bit of doggy bedding in the bin.

I'd still recommend the Scruffs Holbury dog cushion, because it did seem a big hit with all the pets. I don't think there was any question that the bed wasn't well-made or of good quality, it's just very little stands up to the mighty jaws of my mutt once he gets a (stupid) idea in his head. The corduroy middle did seem to attract hairs, but brushed off quite well. Otherwise, it was a very nice, attractive, comfortable place for a dog to sit.
