Skinneeez Stuffing Free Dog Toy
Advantages: Durable, entertaining, easily cleaned
Disadvantages: Can get smelly when dirty
As I have mentioned in previous reviews, my two collie cross pups seem to have the ability to destroy nearly any soft toy. For this reason we tend to buy them harder more durable toys. This was until my boyfriend came home from Poundstretcher with two of these Skineeez toys as a little present for the pups.
The Skineeez toys are a range of soft, stuffing free dog toys. There are a variety of animals in the range including a squirrel, fox, raccoon, skunk, rabbit, monkey and a hen. The two toys that my pups own are a fox and a raccoon, which have been affectionately nicknamed roadkill in my house.
The two toys we own are similar in design. They both have long bodies and tails and little legs attached. The fox is dark orange/brown with white markings and the raccoon is grey with a black tail and white markings. Each of the toys has a little round head with a face on it, they're are no hard pieces on these toys and the eyes/nose are made of soft fabric. The toys are really soft and fluffy and each have a squeaker in the head and the end of the tail.
So what did the dogs think? These toys seemed to really bring out the hunting instinct in my dogs, as they love to pounce on them, grab them and shake them really hard. It is quite entertaining to watch. Both of my dogs also love to lie and chew on these toys and squeak them. They love to chase each other round the garden with these toys and as they are long, they also often grab an end each and play tug of war with them.
These toys have been surprisingly durable, and due to having no stuffing they have not been destroyed by my dogs. The stitching in these toys must be quite strong as the toys have never ripped despite months of being shaken and pulled on a regular basis. Due to the fact that these toys are made from soft fluffy fabric, they often get soaking wet from dog saliva and being left in the garden. This makes them quite smelly, however I often throw them in the washing machine for a little clean. They wash well and come out of the machine looking a lot cleaner and brighter.
These toys have definitely kept my dogs interest and even after owning them for a number of months they still enjoy playing with them. They have lasted the test of time which is more than can be said for a lot of other dog toys! A quick search online tells me these toys can cost anywhere from £4-£8 each which I think is reasonable for a durable and long lasting toy. Thanks for reading/rating and I hope you found my review useful.
