Dogs love chasing things and they also like chewing things, so, if like mine, they like to chase something and then sit there chewing it until it's destroyed it's quite hard finding a throwing toy which my dog can not chew through in seconds. And this is it.
This looks like a big red wad of plastic, (although I have seen, a yellow one), which is exactly what it is really. It is about 90mm long and about 50mm in diameter, at its widest point, having notches around the circumference all the way up. Apparently these notches are designed specifically for your dogs teeth to grip properly without causing any damage to their mouths. And they are said to stop the dog from chewing through the toy itself. This actually works as my dog just can't get a good enough grip on it in order for him to chew through it, which is good.
There's a piece of thin rope that sticks out of the top that has another piece of solid plastic attached to it. This extra bit of plastic and rope are designed for when you want to throw the chunk of plastic or, as I do, have a game of tug of war with him. The rope may be thin but it is strong enough to keep both pieces of plastic together even in the most strenuous tug of war game. I don't tend to throw this for my dog as it is a little on the heavy side and he's a bit mad went it comes to snatching things out of the air. If I do throw it I always make sure he's sat, staying until the toy lands on the ground, this saves on broken teeth.
It is made of 'natural' rubber and is very durable which means that it should last a long time. My dog has been chomping away at his for ages now and all he's managed to do is leave a few little teeth marks on some of the wedges, but the toy is as solid as it was on the first day.
The price of this is about £5 which is five pounds well spend for the amount of fun your dog can have over a long period of time.
