Advantages: Fun, water filled
Eddie our lovely black cocker spaniel needs a lot of interaction and play to keep him entertained but for the times during the day that we are not around I like to have lots of toys around for him to play with. I think its also part of his breed that they get a bit bored and like to chew things they shouldn't chew, such as pour wooden table legs which he doesn't do so much any more but as such I like to have lots of toys around for him to play with. We now know what kind of dog toys Eddie likes and prefers and the ones which he is not going to destroy in a day or two and this toy is definitely one that has stood the test of time. As dog toys go it is tough, durable, different from a lot of dog toys on the market and a lot of fun for Eddie.
Strangely enough this dog toy does look a lot like a barbell. It is thin in the middle and then it goes out on either side just like a barbell does. I think this makes it really easy for Eddie to grab it in his mouth and carry it around almost like he would with a bone. In fact this toy quite resembles a bone too and is also what it looks like to me. Its quite small but sometimes they are the best toys as dogs can just carry them around.
The toy is blue and white in colour and is quite eye catching. What I like about it is that if Eddie takes it outside with him I can easily spot it in the grass and do not need to go searching for it if he has lost it. The barbell is made of a really tough rubber which is great as Eddie can gnaw and chew at it and it doesn't rip or tear or anything like that. We have probably had this toy for about three months now and it still looks as good as new. The great thing is he can bite it with his teeth and he doesn't even puncture it either. What I like about this toy is that its a bit bouncy as well which I think is to do with the rubber its made of. Often Eddie will have a great time with it just batting it with his paws and it jumps around on the kitchen floor and he loves to watch it and chase it and its really quite funny.
The toy has lots of little rubber bobbles all over it so it gives it a bit of texture as well which must be fun when he comes to chew it. The barbell then has little tiny openings on it, pores they call them and what you can actually do with this toy is to fill it up with water and then as Eddie chews the toy the water will seep out of the little tiny holes. This is how the toy really differs from regular toys. In Pets at Home they really recommended this toy as a summer toy and Eddie really likes it after he's been for a long walk and is in need of water to drink. On the packaging they also gave the time of filling this up with water and putting it in the freezer so the toy would be really cold and give your dog a different feeling when playing with it.
All in all a fun dog toy.
