“ Brand: Trixie / Type: Dog Food Bowl „
Obviously when it comes to having pets around the house one of the things you need to make sure is that you always have a bowl of water around for them to drink. After Eddie comes in from his walk/run he is always absolutely gasping and can drink half a bowl in about 5 seconds flat. His little tongue practically goes about 100 miles an hour to lap up all the water so I need a water bowl that is not only big but able to withstand being pushed around by an excited thirsty dog.
This Trixie bowl is great for water. It is made of stainless steel so I think it looks really nice in the first instance. The water bowl is always out in our kitchen so I wanted something for Eddie that would look a bit nicer than a plain old plastic bowl. The bowl can be used as a food bowl as well but I have a special ceramic bowl with paw prints on so I only use this bowl for water but I can see how it would be good for food too.
What I like about the bowl is that it is quite big and so holds a lot of water at one time. Sometimes I forget to top up Eddies bowl during the day but I know if it has been filled in the morning it will usually last for quite a long time. Dogs need lots of water as the dry food they eat and the treats you give them can often be quite dry and give them a dry mouth so to know that Eddie has a big bowl he can just sip at through the day as well is great. You can buy this bowl in a variety of different sizes, 14cm, 17cm or 22cm. I have it in the 22cm as this works well for me and the space we have to put it in. The bowl has quite a wide top so its very easy for Eddie to really get his face and tongue in it and get a good slurp up to drink the water easily.
The other great thing about this bowl is that it has a rubber ring on the bottom of the bowl which helps it from slipping away. This is a really good feature when Eddie is lapping up the water really fast as it stops the bowl from moving across our floor and stops the water being splashed all over the place. I find this bowl really easy to clean too. I have had other metal bowls for water for my cat that seem to collect a line of limescale around them after a while when you leave water in them making it look horrible and not very hygienic either but this one doesn't suffer from that which is great and we have not had to replace it since we have had it.
The 22cm bowl cost me £5.99 which I think is a good price for a good bowl.
My setter is a really messy eater! To try to prevent his bowl from being pushed around the floor and tipped over I recently bought him a Trixie stainless steel bowl from my local pet shop.
The advantage of buying a stainless steel bowl is that it is easy to wash and is dishwasher proof at high temperatures. The bowl I have is the large 22cm size and can be used for either food or water. The bowl has a rubber non slip base that also means the bowl is slightly raised from the floor and is easy to pick up. The non slip rubber works well and helps keep the bowl in one place.
As this bowl is made from stainless steel it is rust free; particually useful if you are going to use it as your dog's water bowl. Although at £5.99 this bowl was more expensive than other models I hope it will last for a lifetime so shouldn't need to be replaced.
Trixie manufactures several models of dog feeding/drinking bowls and there are even models that are designed to fit into a stand so that the dog's food is completely off the ground. The only slight negative point is that food debris can sometimes get trapped at the edges of the rubber base.
Overall this is a good quality, hygienic dog bowl that I think is well worth the price!
