“ Brand: Weatherbeeta / Type: Dog Equipment - Rug „
My dogs are pretty spoilt and I'm not the only one who spoils them! My mother is a big spoiler probably because she thought I was never going to have children and that the dogs were going to be the closest things to grandchildren! However, I am 35 weeks pregnant and the dogs still get just as spoilt! My parents spend a lot of time in America as we have family there and they normally bring back more presents for the dogs than they do me!
This year my dogs got a few new additions to their wardrobe which was no surprise! As I've said before my dogs wear the Weatherbeeta dog rugs as they are mini versions of the horse rugs. Weatherbeeta are a global company and their equipment is available in the US. My mother chose two dog rugs for them, one being the Weatherbeeta Burghley Dog Blanket as she thought it was cute! Unfortunately the Burghley dog blanket is not actually for sale in the UK which is disappointing.
The Burghley dog blanket is exactly how it is in the picture and when I first saw it, it reminded me of a sheepskin jacket which my dad has hidden away in his wardrobe! However, my dogs are not fussy and will quite happily wear anything that is put on their back! The Burghley dog blanket is quite deluxe for a dog rug and is made from incredibly soft suede and has a very luxurious boa fleece lining. The dog rug is unlike any of the dog rugs which Weatherbeeta do (apart from the Deluxe Landa dog rug) as it has a belly closure. This means that it has a section which goes from the dog's chest and under to the belly and attaches to Velcro. This does mean that you have to put your dog's one front leg through but having a belly closure means that the rug is more secure and keeps your dog even warmer. It also has a front chest closure which can be loosened or tightened by Velcro should your dog be wide in the chest. The dog blanket has a boa fleece collar which can be turned up should you want your dog looking extra cool!
This dog blanket is one of my dogs many items and even though they don't wear it that often although that may change now winter is fast approaching there is never an issue in getting the front leg through the front of the blanket as they are just happy to stand there. The one thing about this dog blanket is that its outer shell is soft suede which is great for when the dogs are at home or even in the car but getting even a splash of mud on this dog rug and it has a tendency to stain. It also can't be worn in the rain as again it marks the suede which makes this dog blanket slightly hard to use.
I find that it keeps my dogs lovely and cosy as they have already tried and tested it in the house and it fits them well (they are quite slim and athletic type builds). It has been worn outside on a night walk once where we got a small rain shower and it obviously isn't waterproof but as I said above the dog blanket marks so easily that you have to be quite careful when it is on the dog which really isn't always practical! I think they design of the rug is quite sweet, it fits them well but the practicality of this dog blanket is poor as we all know the weather in this country is very hit and miss! It's now their housecoat which is a shame but I don't want it getting completely ruined! The rug is machine washable (on a cool wash) but I'd be a bit worried about the suede after it has been washed.
The Weatherbeeta Burghley Dog Blanket is available in chocolate and black/silver and comes in sizes 12" to 32". You should measure your dog from the scruff of the neck to the base of the tail. This dog blanket is not available in the UK (and I've done a fair bit of googling!) but if you really want one for your dog it can be purchased online for around $20.00 and that does not include the shipping.
