A stylish coat for any dog

After buying my dogs their first Weatherbeeta 'dog rug' I became a bit obsessive with the Weatherbeeta dog range (I've never bought any other brand of dog rug!) and it seemed that every time a new dog rug came out I would buy it! The Weatherbeeta dog rug range expanded a few years ago and it seems that the dog rugs are incredibly popular both with horse and dog owners and just non horsey dog owners. My Doberman is incredibly wimpy in terms of the weather and takes a lot of persuading to venture out the house in cold and wet weather! I take both dogs for a walk late at night before going to bed and at the moment it is quite chilly and already he is starting to refuse to go out unfortunately for him I don't take no as an answer but instead I put a dog rug on him! He currently wears his very fashionable Weatherbeeta Sandown Fleece which I think is great! I bought the sandown fleece a few years ago for him and he has since had to have a bigger size. I loved this dog rug the moment I store it on the Weatherbeeta website mainly because it matches the sandown fleece I have for my one horse. The fleece is in the typical racing gold, red and black colours which makes this rug really stand out of the crowd, it has colour co-ordinating black straps. It is a super light bonded fleece rug which is there to keep the dog snug and warm. It is fastened with a black strap at the front which is not adjustable but can be loosened or tightened depending on how tight you place the strap on the Velcro. There is also a black strap which goes under the dogs belly (similar to a horse rug surcingle) and this is adjustable. If your dog has a belly/ rib cage similar to a greyhound, boxer etc you may need to tie a knot in the strap to make it even smaller. Again this strap is fastened to Velcro. I admit that I bought this dog rug mainly because I thought it was lovely and it was unusual. I now use the sandown fleece nearly every night on my Doberman and he seems quite happy to go for a walk on a chilly night. The fleece fits snugly from the base of the neck to the base of his stump as I call it as he doesn't have a tail! The fleece is quite skin tight but as it's a fleece the fabric is so soft he doesn't have a problem moving around in it and will quite happily sleep in it. The fleece is also great if he has been out in the rain and he is known to get a bit of a chill so using this fleece ensures he is kept warm but the moisture is wicked away. The sandown fleece can be easily washed in the washing machine on a low temperature but cannot be tumble dried as it may shrink. It doesn't take long to dry especially if hung near a radiator. The Weatherbeeta Sandown Fleece can be bought online and in some stores for about £12.99 - £14.99 and comes in sizes 30cm to 70cm. To measure your dog, measure from the scruff of the neck to the base of the tail a few millimetres wont make much different but I would personally round up to the next size as once the rug is properly fastened it makes a difference to the overall size. I would definitely recommend the sandown fleece for any dogs wardrobe or any owner who has a wimpy dog when it comes to the weather. The dog is kept warm and cosy which for me leads to a very happy dog willing to go on walks in the cold weather! I know I should be a bit more tough on him but he is such a good dog in so many respects I'd feel a bit mean!
