We noticed a while ago that our dogs breath was startign to smell and knowing that generally bad breth can actually be from the teeth I decided we needed to clean the dogs teeth. We have two Staffordshire Bull Terriers and neither of them like to have their teeth actually brushed so I decided to try some dental chews instead to see if they would make any difference.

I bought these from Asda and a packet costs 92p for a packet which contains 7 chews which is good value when you compare to other well known pet brands.

I was quite surprised when I open the packet that the chews smelt meaty rather than a minty smell which I have found with other dental chews. The sticks are about 15cms long there are a couple of pieces of the chew and these are twisted arouned each other to make the overall chew and they contain pumice to help to keep the teeth clean.

The ingredients for the chews are Cereals , Meat and Animal Derivatives , Derivatives of Vegetable Origin , Minerals (minimum 1.0% Pumice) , Additives and Preservatives. The chews have no artificial flavours or colours and they can in a resealable packet which keeps them fresh.

The dogs seem to really enjoy these chews although the rate they eat them at I do wonder whether they actually taste them or not, they would keep eating these if we allowed them but I tend to give them one every couple of days and this seems to be helping a little with the breath situation. Both my dogs have always had pretty clean looking teeth so I can't say whether they help clean the teeth or not.

I will keep buying these, at this price I won't let my dogs have bad breath.
