Advantages: cost effective, dogs love it

Disadvantages: Not sold in supermarkets

My dogs used to be very fussy but not now I have changed to Burns. This dog food seems to have rejuventated them! They no longer turn their noses up at the food bowl. I used to have to change their food regularly ( which I know was not good for them) as they seemed to get fed up of it or they wanted more due to the addictive colourings etc.

My border terrier developed a skin condition and after several visits to the vet I took a good look at the food they were eating to rule out any food allergies. A dog breeder friend of mine recommended Burns and so I thought I would give it a try. At first I was a bit dubious as it looks quite boring and being fussy and spoilt I thought they would only tolerate the same taste for a few weeks but that doesn't bother them in the slightest. That was a year ago and my boys are still happy on it and the skin is much better. The change over was straight forward too and we had no problems with stomach upsets etc. In fact no toilet problems what so ever!

Members of my family who have elderly dogs have now been converted to Burns and it seems to have given their dogs a new lease of life. An elderly small cross breed can still run and jump around with the youngsters. The small bites suit him perfectly. Don't get me wrong we don't have behavioural problems but they seem to be happier in themselves - less bloated and mentally more alert.

There are several flavours to choose from - chicken, lamb, beef duck and venison with brown rice. It is 100% organic with no added colourings or preservatives. There is a web site for advice and nutritional information on the bag. A variety of sizes can be bought. We have a local pet store that stocks the food so have no problems with availability but I believe mail order is efficient and cost effective from Burns. It costs approximately £17 for a 7.5kg bag and they have about 125g each per day.

I have found that this dog food is actually saving me money. The boys get their recommended amount and seem to be quite content. No begging for more but they get stuck in straight away. There are treats available too. They even do a cat food.

I wouldn't change back to any other dog food now that I have discovered this one. No more heartburn whilst finding a suitable, likeable food for my precious boys.

Summary: Several flavours, free from additives dog food developed by a vet.
